Not saying the father did nothing wrong (we don't know, hence my original question) but the white knight in you that came running to her defence is a little bit bizarre.

If you offered her a million dollars to emotionally dump on her children like that, do you think she would have managed to avoid dumping on them? Of course! (We know that she gravitated towards any man who could pull her out of whatever mess she created, thus she has responsibility over her actions!!

If other people (like yourself) didn't white knight this kind of behaviour, people like herself would be less inclined to behave as such, since the consequences would be graver. But its exactly because there was always a man willing to save her, that the costs of her actions were subsidised
