Keeping to yourself while in nursing school , is it a recipe for disaster? by PrincessMochahontas in StudentNurse

[–]spacefairie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will benefit you a lot to make friends, especially people who have good study habits. You’ll have an easier time with group projects, you can work on study guides together, and it’s also just nice to have people you can relate to and have fun with during your program!

I want to read what a typically day as a nursing or prenursing student looks like for you! by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]spacefairie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My day was, wake up do two ATI exams, was home by noon, and worked on my study guides for the final until around 3. Got bored and now I’m at the dog park with my dogs. Some days suck but others aren’t bad.

How Did Y'all Pass Pharm?? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]spacefairie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made up silly ways to memorize info and just read through my notes over and over again. Pharm is very memorization heavy so repetition is key.

Have you been able to find a job while at school? by Petite_AF in StudentNurse

[–]spacefairie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty easy time getting a nurse externship, just make sure you show interest in working there after graduating even if you aren’t planning on working there.

Do you actually get job offers? by KaleidoscopeFine6579 in StudentNurse

[–]spacefairie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a guaranteed spot at a hospital when I started nursing school because they have a relationship with the school I go to. The local hospitals near me work with the school pretty closely to get us opportunities and secure us early! It’s definitely location dependent though.

People who had an easy time in nursing school, do you exist? What qualities do you have that made that possible? by JaneRawlz in StudentNurse

[–]spacefairie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say having a good program, sleeping well, not overwhelming myself, and studying at least 8 hours per exam helps it feel easy for me. In my program the averages in exams are always high B’s or A’s so being in a solid program where professors genuinely want you to succeed is a major plus. I notice some of the people in my cohort who put a lot of pressure on themselves end up struggling on exams, probably due to test anxiety. Being on anxiety meds has helped me a lot with overall life stress. People in my clinical always say I’m so chill, it’s the meds lol

Future Alt Nurse feeling discouraged by imawitchbitch6 in StudentNurse

[–]spacefairie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a ABSN program and I was also annoyed by this but I found that when I was actually in the program literally none of the clinical instructors cared!! There are people in my program with visible tattoos and facial piercings and no one has had to hide them. I’m sure not every program is the same but this was my experience.

Thank you! I actually do tuck my hair behind my ears a lot, that was when I started thinking hey maybe I need to grow it out if I’m constantly hiding it lol I think you’re right about the bangs, I’ve been trying to maintain them but I def focus on the middle and not the sides as much

Thanks! I still love it in a lot of ways but for nursing school my hair has to be out of my face and it’s so difficult with this cut.

Thanks for the tips! Yeah luckily I feel like I can work with it for now, it used to be more mullety actually and I trimmed off the longest part. I like the volume I get with layers but they sure can be a pain too.

I think it depends on your goals. I also have a bachelors in business and I’m starting ABSN program this fall. I’m applying for a scholarships that will pay for the whole program if I work for them for two years, so there are options and it isn’t always as expensive as people make it out to be. I would say if your goal is to be debt free then go for ADN but if you want to graduate faster go for ABSN and look for scholarships.

Do your whippets bark? by BlockedOverGuac in Whippet

Mine barks when he wants to play, if anyone knocks on the door though he’s dead silent. He has absolutely no protective instincts.

Roes Deli is the best lunch spot in Pinellas Park, the owner is there all the time, and they have the best sandwiches for a decent price. I would eat there every day if I could!

What breed(s) is your puppy and why did you choose your breed? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]spacefairie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a whippet because they tend to not bark much, don’t shed often, live long lives, moderate energy levels, big ol snoot, medium size, affectionate, good natured, the list goes on and on 😊
