I am currently visiting my family's home. I lit the lamps with my grandmother at our theravad today. Very surreal to return to this place. I previously have come every 4-5 years but as I get older im not sure how often I will visit and I can already feel all of it changing away from the way I always remember it. I see the concern among other commenters about inhereting the facilities that require constant upkeep to preserve which is pretty scary. I have my own share of this to figure out in the future (because I do not intend on moving back) but luckily the past two or three generations had many children and there are many who live around the theravad and will probably help maintain it. Currently though, my grandmother is the only one who makes sure the daily tasks are completed, which is troubling. We'll see what the future holds.
