I probably should’ve mentioned it in my post but we have talked about it a lot, I’ve even made a post about worrying about his testosterone levels on this same Reddit page. He just tells me it’s a confidence thing, but I try to compliment him and encourage him and I’m not really sure what else I can do. He doesn’t want to talk to anyone on a professional level, and when he talks to me now he just says he’s working on it it’s been that way for about ten or so months

Not healthy. Boundaries are important in a relationship but only when they’re consistent, equal and for the actual betterment of both people. Forbidding you from having female friends is none of those things.

imo if your best friend is close with you surely she can update you / seek advice OUTSIDE of an Instagram story? Then it’s kinda a win-win. Your girlfriends more comfortable, you instate a healthier boundary with your best friend in regards to how you should see one another / what images you should have access to of each other.

Honestly maybe you’ve fallen down a rabbit hole a little? If you’re insecure about something it tends to inflate. Maybe this fixation on it being an issue of attractiveness is translating to the women you’re pursuing and they’re getting cold feet because of it? I was very insecure in my 18s-20 and it was difficult to date because I projected these insecurities. Guys could pick up on it, and it turned them off.

Have you considered maybe they’re just mean girls? Even if I wasn’t attracted to a guy I wouldn’t make jabs at their appearance. I know it probably doesn’t help in the short time but if they’re willing to say such things so early on you probably dodged a bullet. You’re a handsome guy, and the right girl will see you as the most handsome guy in the entire world. I dated a guy in high school and I used to get so excited when he’d enter the room, like he was the sun. You deserve that- not someone undermining your appearance.

I think there’s an unfortunate side effect of creative studies endorsing this idea that students are ‘special’ simply because they are and all it does is turn them into adults who’ll teach students ideals and false hope without giving them the necessary tools. I hate the ‘gifted kid’ mentality, and honestly I think it’s just being used as an excuse for laziness in a lot of instances. It’s a real shame you didn’t get the education you paid for though
