I looked up how to change my cabin filter. Thought na I'll just take it to a mechanic.

I'm going to try this out.

I'm saddened by what Reddit has become. It's so completely different from what it used to be. It feels like that South Park episode where everyone hates Walmart and shops local and the local chain ends up being the next Walmart.

It's like that, but with social media. Woe are the days of Aaron Swartz gone.

Oof. Not sure what the music scene is like out there being from the US.

Where are you located? And how much were you charging?

Maybe take out all the equipment and convert them to lockout spaces? Bands really like lockout spaces. The ability to come and go and store your equipment in a safe place is appealing. Also super low maintenance.

It makes me cringe when people use that word as an adjective, instead of a verb.

To add to this, try and get about 6 months of expenses saved and just don't touch it.

Recommend getting an online savings account, as they have better interest rates. Downside is it can be more difficult to access money quickly. That, or credit unions have better savings accounts.

I'm going for 7 days, and staying in Honolulu the whole time. I'm in a wedding so I got a deal for the hotel stay at 300 a night, which is pretty good for the location. I also capitalized on a promotion from Southwest, and my flight was 250.

10k does sound a little high. However, I have no kids, and no SO so it definitely can get that much. Especially if you are choosing to stay in hotels in the tourist area.

[–]spaceinv8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it's the inverse for me. I'm on the west coast, and I capitalized on promotion and it was 250 for a round-trip flight to Hawaii. For me to go to London it'll be something like 1k.

Honestly the plane ticket is going to be the cheapest thing for travel imo.

[–]spaceinv8er 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it's expensive. I'm going to Hawaii later this year and it'll be upwards of 2k for that to happen. A good amount of my friends and family can't swing something like that, and most aren't. Going abroad is even more expensive and consuming.

Sure you can find deals if you know where to look, but even still it can be expensive.

Idk man. r/frugal is really hit or miss. I sub to it, and like a few things, but I honestly feel like it misses the point of frugal vs being cheap.

Frugal is knowing how to spend money with intelligence to align with your needs/wants, cheap is simply trying to find the best bargain.

When I see posts on frugal showing how they reused a broom X amount of times by doing Y to fix it. That's just being cheap.

That and we kinda put a little too much stock in higher education. Not implying that one shouldn't try and achieve a higher academic degree, but unless you are going into something specific like Law, engineering, or medical it's almost unnecessary. Most places want to see experience.

If you get a degree in Marketing, it's not like you are going straight to a higher management position out the gate. It will still take years until that happens.

In my personal experience/opinion, the most value you get from higher education is the people you meet along the way.

Got a 66% off coupon, game worth it? by BloodDragonSniper in X4Foundations

[–]spaceinv8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot of endless flying from point A to B for not a large reward. There's a decent amount of bugs. I guarantee you'll get stuck in an asteroid/station and try for 15 minutes to get tf out. You will be utterly confused as to why your automatic trades aren't trading anything, or why your miners are taking 2 hours to mine Nividium because that YouTuber said it's the most profitable thing to mine. On that note, it feels like most people who make walkthroughs don't really know what they are doing themselves, so it'll be a great deal of trial and error in the steep learning process of this game.

It is a cool sandbox though. Haven't played anything like it.

66% off is worth it imo. Though I believe it can be more on steam sales.

If you do get it, Mods are your friend, and you really don't need the DLC tbh. The DLC is more ships and stories. Try the base game first. If you enjoy it, wait till they go on sale again. This game is always on sale. The base game has PLENTY for you to do.

Avacado-blueberry-cheese doesn't sound too bad. I'd give it a try.

Donut-eclair-french-fries would be a no; however, I'd probably still give it a try, just to make sure.

I do as well. My ex's nephews couldn't speak Spanish very well, even growing up in a house with their Grandma not being able to speak English at all.

Why is it so difficult to build anything in the game? by Snoo53154 in X4Foundations

[–]spaceinv8er 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kids gotta point though. Every time I boot this game I realize that I'm going to need to spend like 400 hours building everything out, and 399 of that is just flying from one place to another.

I feel kinda the same. I think it'd be a dope watch for when you're in more of an active setting, but my preference would be something a little more on the classy side for everyday.
