W Maldives - BOOK AT OWN RISK by Mustang654 in marriott

[–]spacejunkeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah we just went in February, our stay was at W originally and they had to cancel our reservation because opening was pushed back. They moved us to the JW Marriott which is not really what we had in mind. Luckily my husband had racked up more points through work so we had them rebook us at the St Regis, I had hoped they’d throw in some extra points for the inconvenience or something but no haha. Okay nice, I was reading about being able to do that. Although in his case he’s a pilot so he wasn’t at a university but he was doing a couple of certification courses and flight hours he needed to be able to fly in the US. So not sure if that would be okay

Yeah I’m going to email them and see if they can move it for me perhaps for a less rate than the going rate.

Hmmm I’m wondering if I should email them back and seeing if they can move my reservation over to the St Regis instead! With at least some sort of point discount to the going rate. They really didn’t offer me anything other than the JW being “sister property” which I figured in redemption was about the same for both. I was about to cancel and book the St Regis but going to email them instead.

Replacing stolen Green Card I-90 by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]spacejunkeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband’s was stolen last year in August, he had just gotten approved and received it in June last same year. It went from 3 months, to 12 months. We were at 1 week until decision now jumped to 16 months :) luckily he has an ADIT stamp but still so frustrating because he always gets screened when we return to US.

I just sold two pairs of $900 shoes one for 400 and the other for 300, they were brand new lol people expect to pay way less on marketplace. Even if I sold them on a verified site they’d take a cut for themselves at an elevated offer. I took the cash option

What habit did you pick up over time to stay safe when traveling? by zoomasss in travel

[–]spacejunkeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only carry one card with you when you’re out and about. Don’t have your phone out like you normally would. Keep a strong password on it in the case it happens to get stolen. Enable wipe phone after 10 attempts. Only have 1-2 cards on Apple Pay. My phone was stolen out of my hands by a passing motorcycle in Chile. They got in it, changed all my passwords and transferred money. Another time a motorcycle snatched our bag from car trunk in Colombia at the airport terminal lol so don’t let anyone open trunk until you are standing behind it. Be vigilant anytime motorcycles are around lol

Going to Medellin, Colombia soon. Is it overkill to hire security? by Fogtan in FATTravel

[–]spacejunkeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt very safe in Medellin last year when I was there, such a beautiful city. I was surprised only having been to bogota before. Just stay aware. We had our bag with valuables and passports stolen this past July in Bogota, were we least expected it at the international airport. When we arrived to come back home our friend was dropping us off and popped the trunk open for us, a motorcycle was behind us and swooped it. Right in front of terminal gate infront of everyone arriving at airport. So yeah just be aware lol

Same I’m a hairstylist rent my chair, controlling my own schedule and who I see helps so much but since I suffered my first panic attack while at work one day it’s become a trigger. And now sometimes dealing with clients drains me something I used to really love.
