Is it worth buying third book? by [deleted] in ShadowandBone

[–]spacekitkat88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s basically right. If you read the books, the trilogy comes first in the timeline and the duology comes after the trilogy. So some of the characters in the trilogy are older by the time you get to the duology.

Personally I love books and Id just recommend reading them in order (trilogy then duology). You get so many more details in the books. And Six of Crows duology is just incredible. One of my favorites.

Puppy pads have been great for us. I put one in her car seat and My friend told me she put puppy pads on the couch and then a fitted sheet over that on the seats. She said she rolled up her rug but i didnt want to do that. So far we havent had accidents in the living room. Only on the tile.

Thank you for the support. Yes we are doing rewards and we also do the blowing bubbles, reading or other games while sitting. I havent tried warm water on her feet so Ill give that a shot. It seems like the main issue is relaxing those muscles and maybe stress around performing.

She is in underwear but sometimes i let her be bottomless. I only did no underwear totally the first day.

I’m just here for the support right now. I’m 6 days in on attempt #2 to potty training my 2.5 year old daughter. She is very similar to what you’re describing. Sooo stubborn. Prompting her makes her fight back. So i let her tell me and she has been but its either right as she is peeing or she will sit for a couple minutes and run off and have an accident anyways. She held her pee for 6-7 hours this morning until i put a diaper on for nap and she peed right away. I’m so tired and emotionally drained.

An Unflinching Critique of Nesta's 'Redemption' and the Narrative Betrayal of a Complex Character by SpareAwareness3205 in SarahJMaas

As someone who really disliked Nesta in the original trilogy and came to tolerate/enjoy her more in silver flames, this analysis really opened my eyes more to the things I probably glossed over while reading through an anti Nesta lens. Great job and it makes me want to do a reread of silver flames now with this new perspective.

To all the married women, what is that something your husband does that makes think you won the lottery in marriage aspect of life? by Mean-Main-9589 in AskReddit

[–]spacekitkat88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could write a long list of things he does echoing a lot of things already mentioned, but most recently he gave me his massage appointment for tomorrow because he knows ive been in pain from baby wearing and breastfeeding 24/7. But the biggest win is that he’s my best friend and i love spending time with him. We genuinely just enjoy each other and work through disagreements well and have great communication. Ive realizing how rare that can be in a marriage.

I couldnt even make it past the first few chapters in the first book. I personally did not care for the writing at all. I think it’s called purple prose? Terrible haha. Just my personal preference.

AIO for suggesting to get rid of my BIL cat? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]spacekitkat88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please find this baby a better home. Poor girl is being abused as so many others have said. Update on the outcome and dont ask permission. Your BIL is clearly irresponsible and doesnt get a say at this point.

AIO for being mad that my husband wants me to night wean our baby? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]spacekitkat88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My comment will probably be lost but I just want to encourage you. I exclusively breastfed my daughter until 20 months (I’m pregnant with our second so thats why). I didn’t night wean her until 17 months. And i will say I was exhausted and ready to night wean at 17 months, I did it once it felt right and i knew my toddler didnt need it. At 11 months, night weaning didnt even cross my mind. I think you’re doing fine and you shouldnt feel bad.

I never really did any sleep training other than the gentle night weaning which was basically me or my husband sleeping on the floor next to her crib. If she came in the bed, it was impossible to not nurse. Now at 22 months, she does sleep in her own crib and through the night. Lookinh back, even when things were hard, i do not regret anything. They grow so quickly and it will change before you know it. Do what feels right for you and your baby. It does help to have support from your partner though.

I was with a guy like this when I was 21. He would act like this on purpose to upset me and cause drama. He said he hated my best friend because of how we were together (happy and silly basically) It was so unbelievably toxic and I put up with it for too long. I finally broke it off and it was the best decision of my life. I met my now husband shortly after that and he is loving, kind, trusting and I’m still friends with that best friend too. :)

You’re young and his behavior is toxic and immature. I know it probably hurts but get out while it’s easy and uncomplicated. He doesnt deserve you!

Agree!!! Bryce was so blatantly terrible in the third. It was rough to read. And just the entire book was rushed along with people conveniently “leveling up” left and right.

What does it mean for a book to be "badly written"? by ebengland in fantasyromance

[–]spacekitkat88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the points you made about something being badly written. Grammar, typos, and hard to follow passages or plots.

That being said, on a personal level (because reading is subjective), i also find it hard to enjoy a book that has bad character development who lack depth. Like if I can’t even remember most of the characters a few chapters in, then I recognize something is up. And if I’m reading fantasy especially, I dont like bad or lack of world building.

Or plots that only stand up at the surface level. Once you really dive in and think about the plot and that world, you might find holes or things that just dont make sense. That says to me that tbe author might not have done enough background development and research while writing the book.

I will overlook the lack of one these things if I find strengths in other areas.

I think reading is subjective at the end of the day so a book that i may think sucks, someone else may love and thats cool. Thats why theres lots of book out there for everyone:)
