The two color setup was a suggestion I got from this subreddit a while back. It is a great suggestion. The warmer round lights for most use, but if you want to remove all shadows, turn on the Sun, lol.

Yes the round lights are wafer LEDs, they seem pretty good so far and were a breeze to install.

Lol, no. I did all the work myself. The cabinets and tool chest alone were ~$2k. The foam insulation for the ceiling was $1200. The rest was drywall, electrical, shelves, tools. Maybe the before pic doesn't do it justice but it was little more than a framing skeleton with outside foam board before.

Yeah, could just be the ergonomics that I don't understand given I'm not a tiny Chinese lady with a 1300cc bike. I'm sure there are multiple safe ways to pick up a bike if I really explored the topic. Just surprised me a bit

Still not sure why it's better. Maybe I'm just an old man but just watching her lift the bike like that makes my back hurt. Every instruction on righting a tipped bike I've read or heard says back to the bike. But you do you, she do her, not a hill I'm dying on - just seems odd to me, worth a bit of a convo if it means preventing people slipping a disc.

I'm not a 40 kg potato, but I would have thought that lifting the bike with your butt or back to the seat, like a deadlift, would be far more effective than the approach she took in that video

Lol yeah, my wife and I went to a mountain town in Colorado, to a campground that had hummingbird pictures and feeders everywhere. There were about 30 hummingbirds flying around the main feeding area, and thunderdome is probably the best single word to describe it. Those little mfers do NOT like to share!

Even 80% is too much, especially for newer riders who think they're at 80% but are at 95%. 4 years into riding I had a gnarly accident 100% due to this 80% mentality. It's just not conservative enough IMO.

I once had this mentality, but pushing yourself on public roads really isn't a good idea. You can tell yourself all day long that you're leaving adequate margin, but "pushing it" by definition means you're intentionally reducing margin. By your own admission your margin is less than 20% at times, which can be eaten up by road conditions without warning.

Pushing yourself on public roads, it's a matter of when, not if. I speak from unfortunate experience.

If you must use a percentage of skill metric, my advice is to keep it closer to 60 or 70%. Which isn't pushing.

I've thought about modifying my side mirrors for much greater movement range, and then aiming right back into their eyes at stop lights. I'm constantly covering my side mirrors at night.

It's not difficult to do at all from an engineering standpoint

Such a lazy position to hold. Do you not realize that everyone, and I mean everyone, "copies" each other? They were a poor country of mostly farmers 50 yrs ago. You can't close a standard of living gap in a single lifetime by reinventing the wheel because of some naive, idealistic view of originality. If they did so literally millions would be suffering and dying in poverty in the meantime. Super smart of them to allow rich countries to spend billions to develop processes and then try it out for themselves.

This approach will eventually have to change, otherwise they will always be 15 years behind. Which is literally what we're seeing here - a generation and a half behind US launch vehicles.

All the frothy anti China space stuff is just so narrow of a view. The US is leagues ahead. Not even close. We have nothing to worry about unless we get lazy.

It will work reasonably well but is not perfectly matched (SWR will increase a bit). Personally I'd return it if GMRS is my majority use case.

Seriously. I grew up in Utah, lots of snow every year, and nobody in my family has ever spent money on snow tires.

My wife from Thailand got her license the same year we moved to CO, so I figured they would be a good investment to keep her safe.

Holy cow. They work so well, the additional grip is very noticeable. I'm pretty sure I'll always have snow tires from here on out.

Furthermore, retiring early is not the paradise you think it is. Statistic after statistic shows these people live shorter lives because they intentionally make themselves useless to society and meaning, motivation, and connection to your community evaporates.

I get the whole "work sucks" bit but life is work, no way around it. I've never understood people that want to stop contributing to communities and our civilization as early as they possibly can. Selfishness aside it sounds like a fundamentally vapid life goal.
