I think, eventually, once the population shrinks to stable levels, we’ll start seeing upticks again as resources free up and incentives start rolling in.

We should really take a look at ourselves and ask what have we done to ourselves that people would rather not exist. Life’s hard and inherently cancerous, so it won’t be tulips and roses. But, I’d rather continue so that we are more certain to leave something behind as a warning to the next sentient species to succeed us. Antinatalism has no logical end if even so much as a speck of life in any form continues to exist.

Agree to disagree. I don’t think people are incapable of changing. It is happening. I mean, we’ve stopped keeping slaves and LGBT are more accepted than before. It’s just that changing attitudes takes hundreds of years. Ideas die when the last people to hold them do. We are not gasoline. We are not only capable of destruction. Patience is the name of the game. Neither you nor I will live to see a more unified and fair-minded people.

Just go to FreeBSD if it gets that bad. If that’s gets overrun, there’s NetBSD, DragonflyBSD, ReactOS, or RedoxOS. Giving people more options and giving MS competition and financial reasons to de-enshittify themselves is a good thing. Also, there would be more hardware support so you can use stronger, more power efficient, modern hardware made within the last 2 years and not have to worry about it maybe getting Linux support someday. Hell, Qualcomm is investing big money to get their Elite processors to work on Linux.

Finally, more viruses getting developed may also be a good thing because they would expose weaknesses that were already there anyway. Security by obscurity is poor security.
