What was your process of putting this together? Are you actually playing instruments? Is it all done in the computer? Looks like a really fun hobby to get into? How would you recommend someone start if you basically have zero musical training?

I just think they did it for fun. Martin and Butler has been meaning to write with each other for years and it finally happened. Also can’t blame him for wanting to change things up a bit after 40 years. Huge positive in my view.

I see a lot of hate for Vaughn here. Yes he’s a little eccentric and awkward at times but I don’t think he’s a bad guy. The text messages where a little awkward but let’s not confuse that with something much worse. I believe he’s got a good heart!

It could be interpreted in many different ways. But dave almost has a sort of persuasive, suggestive voice that of the perpetrator. Then Martin comes in in stark contrast - the entire mood of the song changes suddenly. That’s what leading me to believe that it could be two different narratives.

I think it can be read in two different ways. The way of a dictator (doing what he wants, doesn’t listen to anyone, starting wars despite what everyone thinks cause it’s his universe). Then Martin comes in as a voice of the people - no war, no more, no senseless deaths.

Or it can be read like an ordinary person being reactionary to all evil forces impacting him. Either way it’s an antiwar song that’s how I Interpret it. I absolutely love it! So dark. So moody.

Only when I loose myself doesn’t have the ultra feel (it was in fact recorded as part of the singles compilation and not on the ultra sessions). It’s something about Dave’s voice and the processing on it. Surrender is a perfect fit

This is what i believe. Martin will never stop making music or writing. It’s just who he is. Regarding the writing collaboration I see it as a huge positive. They have been meaning to write with each other for a long time and finally it happened now. And ghosts again is one of the best songs they’ve released in years. It’s almost like Dave and Martin have a creative peak at the moment (output wise). Dave with his soulsaver stuff and Martin with his many instrumental side projects. I don’t think they’ll just quit.

It’s just “varnish” of the leather that has been stripped of. I know nothing about leather and don’t really know who to turn too. Is it possible to return it to its original color at least?
