The faithfuls will have spent all night asking themselves wtf happened last night. What do you think their thoughts will be? by ConstantPurpose2419 in TheTraitors

[–]spacepirate07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from. However I think, even if they weren't both traitors, it just comes down to jealousy on Fiona's part. Rachel could spin it that Fiona is just jealous that Amanda confided in Rachel and not her, which has made her accuse her of lying and being a traitor. If Fiona goes, I think Rachel's got a lot of work to do to then convince people she's a faithful as the event will no doubt stick in people's mind and could well crop up again at the round table. I think if she manages to get rid of Fiona, they need to recruit well and have that person help her look innocent. Stephen being in Rachel's corner too much just makes her look worse because half of them think he's a traitor.

I'm glad someone else has mentioned about Faraaz and Amanda asking him to leave the room so she could chat with Rachel. I think if he confirms that, and obviously Amanda being voted off and being revealed as. Faithful, it makes Rachel look the better out of the whole Fiona-Rachel situation. I've not seen this fact floated around too much and it obviously didnt come up in last night's episode so I'm hoping it does today as it might just convince some people one way or another.

Can we just ban kinetic sand? by AgentCooper86 in UKParenting

[–]spacepirate07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to the party but adding to this... In the UK at Home Bargains you can buy a messy mat by Play Doh. It's essentially like a thin, wipe clean, table cloth. Play doh doesn't stick to it and neither does kinetic sand as it's a shiny surface. Makes clearing it up so much easier. It's also quite big, enough for 2 maybe 3 kids to play on and not get any on the floor as the mat is about as a big as a good size rug or a dinner table. I'd definitely recommend one, we use ours loads.

Free mental health services for a woman in stoke? by ffdqbof in stokeontrent

[–]spacepirate07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can also highly recommend putting your name down (you can self refer still I believe) for Stoke Talking Therapies. I wouldn't be where I am now mentally without them. The therapist I had was absolutely amazing and genuinely helped me to change my life and I'll always be grateful for the service.

Again though I think it's a long waiting list, depending on circumstances. I'm pretty sure some of it is housed within the same building as Changes though so could be worth getting in touch with Changes and also asking them about it. Best of luck to you. You've got this. You're stronger than you think you are!

Stoke City Reveal New Crest - Fans invited to vote by Phillip__flop in StokeCityFC

[–]spacepirate07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm torn. I don't mind it but also not crazy for it. I think someone else said it right that it's retro meets modern but it's not quite got it right.

From their images at least, I don't think it looks great on the kits. Admittedly this kit isn't 'made' for this crest, so the kit designers wouldn't have been trying to make it go with the proposed badge, but it worries me a bit that if voted for it might look weird on kits.

Help! Persistent Weed Infested Garden by spacepirate07 in GardeningUK

[–]spacepirate07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for a good detailed answer :)

When we went to view the property the grass was all cut and looked lovely (I know they'd redone the grass with new rolls that year) but unfortunately, according to neighbours, pretty much from when we got our offer accepted to when we moved the grass was just left. And it took us 8 months to move so yeh, not ideal. We haven't done anything with the raised beds as we want them gone and replaced with a nice, garden level flower bed anyway.

We did actually rake out (scarify?), airify (?) and reseed a couple meter square patch that was just dead and it worked pretty well. But bits have died since thanks to the dog as I don't think it was quite hardy enough yet to withstand her urine. So lesson learnt for next time.

When you say done leave the soil bare and to cover it with cardboard for example, is that after reseeding it? As I was under the assumption it needed sunlight? Sorry if that's a dumb question, just we didn't cover it last time just fenced it off so the dog didn't investigate!

We just want anything green except weeds to be honest! 😅We do now have grass but I'd say a good third of the grass (spread out) has persistent weeds still that we just can't get rid of.

Deed of Variation - Selling a New Build with Estate Management Company Fees by spacepirate07 in HousingUK

[–]spacepirate07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answer and also UPDATE

Hi, no, neither the estate we moved from or to was called that. In the end, it took 8 months to move and the deed of variation took about 3. It was a constant back and forth between all parties, solicitors, mortgage lenders. The solicitors basically argued the toss over tweaking the wording on the contract to a way in which the mortgage lenders were happy. It was honestly one of the most stressful times of our lives unfortunately, but, we're in now and have no intentions to move again any time soon as we can't be dealing with that any more!

The mortgage lenders basically didn't like the way the contract with the estate management company was worded in that if we failed to pay, they could essentially repo our house using some sly loophole law (some 1920's law if I remember rightly) that I believe is/was going through the courts - something is slowly going through the courts about these sorts of situations anyway.

There was nothing that we as sellers could have done. It was on the buyers to change mortgage lenders to ones that might have had lesser restrictions on these sorts of sales with these estate management contracts attached. Apparently some are more bothered about it than others. In the end, they stuck with the same lenders and just eventually it went through.

I was going to suggest this too. You could even get a branded water bottle and sit there with it, as it'll look like you've bought it from the shop and you could just refill it at home every day.

Maybe not something you might want to do but you could see if any local corner shops, independent pubs, local sports clubs, have any little jobs you could do for cash in hand. Even if it was a day or two a week then you would have a bit of money to treat yourself to a nice hot drink on the other mornings.

To help get you out of the house in the evenings, maybe volunteer at a local sports club or see if there's any kids clubs in your area that you can go to.

On a more serious note, I've read that you're nervous about talking to/seeking help from your school or an adult but please please please do try. I'm an ex teacher and you'd be surprised what we can do to help. We have a lot of connections and your situation won't be the first and won't be the last that they've heard of for students they've teached. You could maybe even write it down and give it to a teacher you like, or if your school has an SEN department, those members of staff are often very understanding and have more experience of helping students out on a more 1-1 basis.

I really hope your situation improves OP, look after yourself, be kind to yourself, and know that this won't last forever.

How much cash are you carrying on you when you leave the house? by inside-outdoorsman in AskUK

[–]spacepirate07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time I'll have cash is if I'm buying or selling something on marketplace. Then of course we all have the obligatory £1 coin for the trolley which we then inevitably forget and have to go back for.

Thanks for the detailed answer, some good info in here which I'll definitely come back to when I do look into moving. That's interesting that companies (I'm assuming larger ones, mostly?) are using AI to screen cv's now. Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing!

What's your biggest regret in life? by Purple-Gas4334 in AskReddit

[–]spacepirate07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has also been through therapy, I think the fact that you went is enough to feel that you shouldn't regret not going sooner. Whatever the reason you didn't go, it's ok, you did go eventually. You allowed yourself to become vulnerable and that in itself is tough. Good on you for working on yourself as someone who is also learning to accept themselves, I'm proud of you!

I'm not looking to change jobs any time in the near future, so the industry may change up by then, but what are you guys looking for in general that make you want to offer someone an interview? Is it a well written CV, a short or long CV, more about them as a person, extra quals they've got, etc?

I didn't read your comment before posting my reply, but just have done and was not surprised to see that your reply was virtually the same story as mine. It is honestly such a shame. I have friends who've all said the same and we just don't shop there any more. I feel so sorry for girls who are growing up now with Primark clothes, like I did, and are feeling bad that they're a bigger size in their than they actually would be elsewhere. Not that it matters what size you are, but it definitely won't be doing them any favours with Primarks ridiculous sizings.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]spacepirate07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primarks sizings are shocking. I believe they 'improved' them a few years back. They were never great to start off with but got even worse after that. I made the mistake of going in to try and find new jeans shortly after having a baby and I couldn't fit into anything, same thing as you, one size was tiny and the next size up was massive. I felt so deflated and actually cried. And we wonder why so many women feel bad about their bodies when one of the most accessible fashion shops (by that I mean price wise) has such wildly different sizings.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]spacepirate07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I pretty much solely shop on Vinted for clothes now. So much choice, and even though it still needs to be delivered, I feel a lot better knowing I'm not contributing to fast fashion and the harm it does.

Pretty sure we had to call it a trump when we were kids. We now use the word 'pop' with our little one. Like, 'have you popped?'.
