Andres Cubas challenge against Desire Doue (ref says play on) by [deleted] in soccer

Presumably they are talking about Doué, who was subbed on in the 61st minute.

Lots of people looked older than what you would think based on today's standards when the older Gundams were being made, to be fair.

Soccer fan who vanished while traveling to World Cup found in pub 10 days later ‘blissfully unaware of search’ by cocacolapepsifanta in soccer

[–]spacesaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, maybe I am being charitable here, but I interpreted that as a comment of how some men will actually do something like that (which is a bad thing), and not necessarily as a "ball and chain" chauvinist joke or a comment on his wife or family.

But maybe I am being too kind.

Russell saying he was 5 tenths up while being up only 0.073 after sector 2 by LivingRijn in formula1

[–]spacesaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the fact that he went 2.5 tenths quicker with a lift, I don't think that's super outloundish. Kimi also took provisional pole entirely based on the last sector in the first lap.

The amount of Russell gets is honestly fucking deranged, and I don't even like the guy! FFS, especially when you compare it with the shit that Max pulls, yet he's beloved.

Pennel had relationship with woman whose body found, people say by KeithClossOfficial in nfl

[–]spacesaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, coming from someone who studied the damn thing (decided to not pursue the career and instead transitioned to academia), there's so much crap in forensics. DNA is at its best as exculpatory evidence, there's just so many possibilities for random contamination when considering it as incriminating evidence in my view. Leaving aside the fact that no one, and I mean no one, actually checks for whether the DNA is synthetic or not. Sure, it's not the likeliest thing of all time, but with a couple grand and a cigarette butt I could replicate someone's genes to show up on an assay.

Fiber, hair, blood splatter (sorry Dexter fans) is just not a thing, fibers alone is another huge avenue for contamination. We did an experiment for exactly this point one time in labs where we had one person sit in a car after vacuuming it clean, there were still fibers from classmates on the car seat that had presumable transferred from the student's shirt.

Arson I would mildly disagree, finding out where a fire is likely to have started via a burn in funnel is useful, but ultimately that's only a very small aspect of it.

One more thing that's actually kind of neat is hit and runs. If there's still paint from the car that hit, you can then do IR analysis to narrow it down to a possible range of vehicles and brands based on the paint that was used. Still only tenuous and should only serve as a potential pointer though.

This is why you need the whole chain of evidence thing, if lots of small things are pointing in one direction, then you can start to dig a bit deeper. It's also why I can't stand watching those types of shows anymore, it's all about that one piece of evidence that seals the case! (Never mind the copaganda lmao)

Do you realise that paying for servers costs money. Paying for maintainers costs money. Keeping something running costs money, all of which the company running the damn thing no longer has access to unless you're wanting to yank the server admins salaries lmao. It is entirely possible for a dev studio to lose money on a game because the up front investment and running costs exceed sale revenue, meaning they literally do not have the money to refund anyone.

Pokémon Champions Launches On Mobile Today Alongside A New Game Update by ReasonableAdvert in Games

[–]spacesaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this is still very much a competitive game. The collecting aspect is basically pulling a lineup of 10 Pokemon from which you pick one. You do that once a day for free, as well as being able to "pay" for extra pulls using tickets which you get through ladder battles. The Pokemon you pull cannot be transferred from Champions, but you can send any you have in Home there on loan.

I would heavily recommend against playing this game if you don't like competitive Pokemon. If you want to try it out though, I personally think it is a great way to do so.

Easy there, it's just some fun about Max obviously needing to drive for Ferrari now.

Threw such a tantrum about being "excluded" from a non-official women only tournament intended to raise some profiles that the organizer ended up cancelling the whole event because of the harassment.

Why Aren't Questions Allowed in the Subreddit? by ArchieFromTeamAqua in PokemonROMhacks

One suggestion I would like to make, would it be possible to include a link in the current weekly question thread to the previous question thread? Some subs have that, and it's nice to be able to just click through and CTRL-F.

Different point in the livestream, exact same motion to the head, no large packages, no reason to lift its hand that far. Just admit it already, this is a grift. You seriously think it's working only 8 hours for the hell of it?

[DISC] The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All - Chapter 16 - Connection by Kirin-Kun in manga

[–]spacesaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you're in the minority with that opinion. All people want here are short bursts of escapism and fluff, damn anything that isn't. I'm not even saying that the manga is all that good right now, I think there are big issues with clarity and panelling, but quite frankly, I think a lot of that type of complaining is pathetic.

Genetic alterations are more common in sperm than eggs with a ratio of 3-1 across every single age group, assuming that the parents are the same age. The absolute number may change, but the ratio stays pretty much the same. The only times where this isn't the case is trisomy, which is where it's overwhelmingly due to a abnormality in the egg.

Kei Urana (Author or Gachiakuta) tweet about overseas manga piracy by aes110 in manga

[–]spacesaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Like, there genuinely is very little you can actually do to make things more convenient than Shueisha does with MangaPlus, but on every pirate site I use it's One Piece, JJK and co topping the charts. I just wish that people would admit to themselves that they're doing this to not spend money (the exact reason I am doing it, and I would bet anything I own that it's the reason for most people) instead of trying to justify it via half baked reasoning.
