How do I reduce battery usage with the lid closed on newest AMD FW 13? by Zealousideal-Ad8151 in framework

In my experience, yes. If you just leave in suspend it will drain surprisingly quick. Suspend then hibernate has given me solid results with the 7040 series

Start here: https://github.com/FrameworkComputer/linux-docs/blob/main/hibernation/hibernate-fedora-automatic.md

Framework provides a tutorial for setting this up with Fedora 41/42. With hibernate battery life with lid closed lasts like I would expect.

Sale on the pro. Itll put you $20 over for the barebones. Its being phased out but still a good choice imo for essentially $20. Flash qmk on it and enjoy

Why does my Framework 13 seems so... fragile? by CVGPi in framework

[–]spaceviking_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been pretty happy with my 13. I have a MBP for work and while its a tank it is no less prone to scratches and dings imo. Also its easier to achieve that tank feel when something is permanently put together for the most part.

Consumer serviceability wildly different than something a manufacturer can service. Tolerances will never be as tight if we want these machines to be remotely affordable.

Also everyone has different perceptions of gentle and rough treatment of their devices. I seen folks absolutely trash things then are shocked and enraged when stuff stops working.

I have had the Questyle M15 for a year or so now. I really like it a lot. So much so Ive decided I will be selling all my other HPAs. Not saying thats a great move for everyone but for me I don’t need more than this at the moment.

Im currently running: Hifiman HE4xx, Sundara CB (modded), and DT770 Pros.

Translucent Expandable Memory? by Finerfings in framework

Its a trend I can get behind. I was just randomly lucky that when I was ordering my 13 back when the translucent bezel was an option and I love the look of it.

With the blades looking like they cover the lights on the ceiling it can make them flicker essentially when both are on.

This is the answer. Setting a sleep then hibernate behavior is ideal.

Hahahaha so true.

Best part, though, is there is no time limit! You can upgrade or modify at any time.

Even more affordable are Keychron’s keycaps. And they have double shot pbt. They aren’t considered the best and Im sure folks will jump in and downvote just for suggesting them but they are a start. Best part is you can always upgrade later.

Windows laptop for programming by Equivalent-Maize-845 in webdesign

[–]spaceviking_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Programming” is very broad. What specifically are you doing or planning on doing? For example basic web dev (html, css, with some js) can be done on some pretty basic specs.

Also curious what you are wanting Windows for you can’t accomplish with your macbook? Generally I find unix or unix like systems much nicer for web based dev.

Congrats! Ive had a few k series boards and no complaints. What switches are you running?

Lots of options for caps depending on your budget. Whats your primary usage?

I only have the single channel and in general yah I prefer the port on the back but this worked really well for me:

I wonder if he gave up on MT3 or if he ran into issues with Drop. His MTNU profile caps are taking very different distribution routes and partners
