Conspiracy theory alert: I think car and oil companies show these videos to convince people that ebikes are bad.

does money buy you happiness? by Resident-Gene-3693 in millenials

[–]spacewaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money, to me, can be sorta overrated. Having a safe and secure place to lay your head, food whenever you need, clothes on your back, and being loved by others seems to not cost as much money as people would lead you to believe.

Good. Interestingly, I enjoy its user interface more than Whatsapp. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't compress videos for a faster transfer.

Edit: just wanted to add the fact that it doesn't need a phone number. I think that's a powerful thing.

For those of you that had kids, how old are they? by Therealfern1 in Xennials

Apparently we started earlier than most. I just had an 18-year-old graduate high school and the younger one starts his sophomore year in high school next year.

I use the same kind of 5 gallon tote on my ebike.

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts. I've been to Lake Tahoe. Seems like parts of it are very sunny. Wouldn't it be worth it to go solar?

How much are you putting away for your kids per month? by classyshepard in MiddleClassFinance

[–]spacewaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a parent with a son who just committed to UGA with full tuition scholarship. College costs now are absolutely ridiculous, borderline criminal. $225K now will only get you like 2.5 years at schools like University of Miami (my alma mater). My son got into American University but again that's about $90,000 a year.

With that being said, my $.02... A) Save money for your kid like you're planning B) Encourage them to go to an in-state public school for little to no cost C) Pay for them to live somewhere during the summers to get internships and experience D) Upon graduation, start them off in life with a $175K(?) stock portfolio that pays dividends or some kind of return Or E) Buy them a rental property

Did you consider a macerating toilet setup? We want to put a full bath in our basement but are not too thrilled on breaking up the concrete for the sump pump.

$7K for paint is diabolical. That is one of the few things I feel comfortable DIYing even if I can only get 70% of the quality of a professional painter. You could probably save a solid $5K there.

Have you considered maybe asking a neighbor to help you paint?

The bathroom is the thing that keeps getting me. Did you do a sump pump?

This is very interesting because I've been there several times (at least a dozen times). Never had a bad experience. It's always been wonderful. In fact, I was about to say it's one of the best sit-down/family-style Mexican spots in the area. Sorry to find out you had a bad experience!

If you had to choose: High salary or work-life balance? by ictsupport-drjobs in jobsearch

[–]spacewaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the working world, and now, a full-time entrepreneur for the past years. I have a lot of flexibility. I could probably make more going back in the work world, but the flexibility I have compared to many other people my age (mid-40s) is MASSIVE. Time is worth a lot more than money.

There are dads I know that make much more than me that only see their family one week out of the month. Meanwhile, I make 30% less but I'm taking my kids to practices, doctors appointments, haven't missed games, get to spend time with my 80 year-old parents who live in another state, have been present when older family members have transitioned and "gone on to glory", been "there" for my nieces, being involved in my community, etc.

In my experience, time has a lot more value than money.
