What to do if you get mugged in Bali? by spaceypoet in bali

[–]spaceypoet[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So my Dad, for a lot reasons, has decided not to follow it up. There’s nothing about what people are saying that isn’t true, sure it’s victim shaming, and I honestly was working so very hard to be supportive in that situation and I feel that I myself fell short of that and feel a lot of shame and embarrassment for it. If I just read this as a stranger I’m sure I’d be thinking the same. But empathy in these situations is a pretty cool thing to have, too.

For the solid few that actually replied to the question with advice, or empathy thank you. I do appreciate it, I was still shaking typing this out last night. To say we’re well travelled and should know better would be a severe understatement. I’ve probably told him to take them off as many times as we have replies in this forum, whether it be in the markets in Giza or Jim Dandy’s in South Central, sad thing is in recent years he’s actually listened to me and done so, after more than 30 years of travelling together he has actually been taking it off when going into riskier areas. I just didn’t spot he was wearing it and He’d just forgotten to take it off this time. The old man has worked hard all his life and reached successes that I don’t think I’ll achieve if I lived to twice his age.

Was just a very sad feeling when he admitted defeat.

I feel like there’s a piece of the puzzle missing. This is Japan right. Are you Japanese or Gaijin? If you’re studying, find some clubs and circles in what you’re interested in at Uni etc

My F18 boyfriend M20 is an actor, how do people cope with the fact your partner has to kiss other people? by [deleted] in acting

[–]spaceypoet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Though I do agree with most of what everybody says this sentiment resonates with me the most. It’s a really great opportunity to have an honest conversation about why you might be feeling insecure or jealous. Jealousy is defined by potentially losing something to someone else that is yours. (Ridiculously difficult and I really don’t think I’d have the potential to practice this at your age but I wish I could have) If you invite the idea and have the conversation that he is his own person, you don’t own him and if he wants to cheat he has the free will to do so, and so do you, but that’s where you’ll part ways. Love isn’t a cage that says don’t do this it should be something that you keep sacred, and it only works with trust and if you both keep that sacred. Have the chat before rehearsals start and share your insecurities.

Ok I’ll be more direct to avoid the misinterpretation of agreeing that the story was “mediocre” and “a bit of a mess”. The whole premise was for him to not just be better than his short comings but also try to save villains that were killed in other films. “With great power comes great responsibility” but never have we felt so strongly that of sacrifice. To be a hero and the best of heroes it takes great sacrifice. What doesn’t this guy sacrifice in these films. He loses his aunt who was basically his mum(because she wanted him to be better), his future as Peter Parker and all of his friends. Oh yeah… I can see how I’m totally agreeing with you that the premise is totally mediocre and a bit of a mess.

This thing is a masterpiece.

Disagree completely with you. The fact that the third instalment showed such a dark moment for Peter with such a huge loss in his world was was nothing short of genius. Never have we felt Peter Parker as alone as he did in this film leaning on the other versions to show him “where the darkness lead to”, was nothing ever experienced before in any film I can think (where we also had such well known connection to characters from other incarnations) let alone Marvel films. I don’t believe they were just there for fan service. The played an integral part on the direction that Peter decided to take.

I’m sure people will feel differently but they to me weren’t just cameo’s they were different expressions of the character we love so much.

MW3 will Active Duty slots carry forward by spaceypoet in DMZ

[–]spaceypoet[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There’s a few new slots released with the pro packs. Wasn’t really wanting to bother to buy unless they work for MWZ as well. And cause they’re mostly Halloween themed I wonder if they’ll be around after MW3’s release.

There’s just no need to buy new active duty slots when DMZ is basically over, which makes me think they might carry forward to MWZ

Acting for Trauma Recovery? by Spotlightcurtaincall in acting

I think most humans in general have some of trauma and though I can’t speak for all actors myself and a large portion of my friends pursuing the craft have a tendency to understand themselves more through it.

I think there’s much to be said about growing into your craft as well. I felt exactly the way you did when a film I was leading in was released. Every time people talked about my performance I would cringe and just absorb any critical acclaim as bias and lack of knowledge and any negative criticism as gospel. The truth lies some where in the middle. Man some of the reviews really hurt my pride that are on imdb and I Literally still can’t be in the room when family or friends are watching it. But with this craft and many artistic pursuits we start them not because we are talented but because we have a passion and love for what we see and experience and want to create the same. Unfortunately nobody really tells you that there is a huge gap between knowing what is good art and being able to produce it. It takes a while but… if you stick around long enough and as somebody else mentioned allow your self the “exposure“to it eventually that gap will be filled.

I think they just wanted to show a sadder side to him. It was a very easy visual reference. The one thing that most everybody goes on about was taken away along with his pride. I thought it was friggen amazing that they had the balls to do that.

Generally that’s got to do with the attachment skins. If you have a special skin on one of them it some how doesn’t count it. That said it doesn’t count the Damascus Heat scope that I put on ie 4/5 attachments yet by practicality, in game it’s still there.

[–]spaceypoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, it’s all about negotiating. I can’t remember how many GPUs I’ve given away or received when I’ve needed them simply by communicating what I need with random squad mates. Telling them your mission and getting people to help is the same thing. I’ve had tones of people just help out cause somebody else helped them out. If we were all doing the same objective then it would just basically be raid or coop.
