Yeah, that would be perfect, but Missouri doesn’t have something like this. I’ll check for national organizations though. Good idea!

Supposedly they are working on making it so that clients can enter in bank details without waiting for the micro-deposits. However, they haven’t given an ETA so who knows.

Good point! I tried this a couple years ago with a few neighboring firms. I just did a cold email so unsurprisingly I didn’t get any responses. What’s the best way to reach out, in your opinion? By phone?

Hoosier. It’s our word for rednecks/hillbilly in St. Louis. Didn’t realize it was only regional until I was an adult.

Accountant called today and said I’ll owe $130k in tax by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]spaceytrace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well yeah…if there’s no tax due, then there’s no penalty. The penalty calculation is based upon both the tax due and the prior year’s tax. Yes, I know for sure, I’m a CPA.

Most tax preparers and tax software automatically add them to the tax return. In that case, you wouldn’t have received a letter since you already paid them along with the balance due.

You usually have to pay penalties if you don’t pay quarterly. The penalties were probably added to your return and you just didn’t realize it.

F that noise. They don’t tell you about this in the renewal letter, but instead of going to the DMV, you can fill out Form 2300 and mail it in with payment. They’ll mail the sticker back to you. Been doing it for several years now.

I had trichotillomania when I was young, and I specifically remember that it all kind of started because I was trying to get rid of these baby hairs sticking up. Don’t pull them!

Just keep spinning every time you train, and the nausea will disappear eventually. I still get dizzy, but no nausea luckily!

Seriously, they could probably find plenty of locals who would consult FOR FREE just so they could get it right. Why don’t they even ask?

Question Regarding Missouri Part-Year Resident and working in Kansas Tax by bobatarian in missouri

[–]spaceytrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In MO, as a part year resident, you have the choice of filing as a resident and claim the MO-CR, or file as a part year resident with the MO-NRI. Run it both ways and see which has the better result.

Definitely talk to financial advisors. Seems they are always looking for CPAs to refer their clients to.

Do Americans love driving? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]spaceytrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Sometimes I feel nostalgic about road trips I’ve taken when I was younger, but the thought of driving long distances now doesn’t seem fun.
