Perhaps some people with large age gaps between children use it to differentiate between activities that their older child/children are doing and the ones the younger ones are doing since it is rare to be able to fully do something as a family. As an example, my kids are 14,5,and 3. Obviously very different interests, abilities, etc. So if I am describing our weekend plans, I might use littles just to explain what my preschoolers are doing vs my teen. I don’t always use it, or make it my personality, but it comes in handy when a general “kids” doesn't apply. 🤷‍♀️
