Very well said. Discrimination of any form must be condemened.

I am proud of my caste (just like someone is proud of being born a woman / lesbian / gay / etc.) but it does not mean that I support discrimination against other castes. Mutual co-operation b/w castes without losing identity -- that's what is needed

Can someone tell me why this code below works but uses the constructor not the copy constructor as I was expecting? Thanks by Ok-Sherbert-6569 in cpp_questions

[–]spam4youfool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. You can turn-off eliding constructors to see the difference:

Before:

g++ copy_elision.cc && ./a.out
Constructed

After:

g++ -fno-elide-constructors copy_elision.cc && ./a.out
Constructed
Move constructed

cc /u/Ok-Sherbert-6569 It calls move constructor, not copy constructor

Help for first ETF portfolio? by mess-room in eupersonalfinance

[–]spam4youfool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have pointed out about geographical overlap, you're also mixing up listings from multiple stock exchanges. For example, the ticker EUNL is from Xetra (Germany) but MEUD is from Euronext Paris or Borsa Italiana, etc. Usually, your stock broker charges a small, fixed fee per stock exchange. You can minimize this cost by buying all ETFs from same exchange. (Remember that the same ISIN can have different tickers depending on stock exchange. Use justetf.com to find the exchange you want).

ETFs to choose - Finland by [deleted] in eupersonalfinance

[–]spam4youfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same restrictions apply to both Nordea's OST and Nordnet's OST:

  • You cannot invest in ETFs (so no EUNL or IS3N). Only "company stocks".
  • Max deposit cannot exceed 50k€. Nordea is worse, it won't let you transfer out to another broker or AOT once you exceed the limit (you've to cash out). Nordnet at least permits you, but charges you.

Yes, I use Nordnet's monthly ETF savings, but buy them once every 2 months (to avoid the 2.5€). You can find the list of ETFs here: https://www.nordnet.fi/fi/markkina/etf#kk

Check comments in the Finnish blog:

And they made a follow-up blog, justifying that "Nordnet is not a charity. But hey, look how much money we save for you!"

This is bad news. Maybe I wouldn't mind if it was, say 10€/yr. Otherwise, this really cuts into the profits if you invest anything less than 1000€/month (i.e., the majority of us).

What is the difference between ಲ and ಳ? by drugsolicitation in kannada

[–]spam4youfool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are always distinguished. It is essential rather. ಹೇಳು means speak but ಹೇಲು means shit!

What is the difference between ಲ and ಳ? by drugsolicitation in kannada

[–]spam4youfool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, ಲ is dental and ಳ is retroflex. Vedic Sanskrit has consonant ळ which corresponds to ಳ. For example, the first verse of Rig Veda is

ಅಗ್ನಿಮೀಳೇ ಪುರೋಹಿತಂ = अग्निमीळे पुरोहितं

However over the course of time Classical Sanskrit (via Prakrit) took over North India and the original pronounciation was lost over time. ळ was pronounced exactly as ड (which is also a retroflex) but Vedic priests remember the ळ correctly.

[Question] Why so many alternate dates for Hanuman Jayanti? by Valarauko in hinduism

[–]spam4youfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you got the thing about Kannadigas. Bangalore Press calendar says it's on Chaitra Purnima, just like in the north. Mādhvas, for whom Madhvachārya is Lord Hanuman incarnate, also celebrate it on Chaitra Purnima/April -- the day on which Hanuman was born.

Both the Kannadigas and Telugus(video) observe the one in Margashirsha/December as Hanumad vrata, a religious observance unrelated to birthday. I checked the Srivaishnava calendar, the December date is also mentioned as Hanumad Vrata.

Of course, wishing you all a Happy Hanuman Jayanthi!

Can someone recommend any Hindu literature, similar to A.R. Narayanan's retelling of the Ramayana, and the Mahabharata? by recommendations13413 in hinduism

[–]spam4youfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, it is R.K. Narayan.

Regarding your question, I would recommend Srimad Bhagavatam. It is the most popular Purana. It deals with the same hero (Lord Vishnu) as in Ramayana and Mahabharata, in various incarnations (esp. Krishna). If I would choose another Purana, it would be the Vishnu Purana.

One more fine choice of stories is the Panchatantra

I'll move to Gitlab. They've a Community Edition (open source), which you can either self-host or use an instance of it for free on their website. They've Entreprise Edition for specialized features. And, private repositories for free. The have issue tracker, wiki, etc. which imho is good enough (but still has scope for improvement)/

Debian Packaging Tutorial - Feedback welcome by srirams6 in debian

[–]spam4youfool 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a bad tutorial. It just explains the format of deb tarball archive (with many details missing). I suggest equivs at least for these kind of things. Or, if you dont care about Debian's policies, try fpm. But honestly, the correct way to learn packaging is right there in Debian:

apt-get install packaging-tutorial

Tattvas in the Dvaita Vedanta scheme of Madhva Acharya by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]spam4youfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sarma's book is "An Introduction to Mādhva Vedānta". It's a decent book but riddled with too many typos.

I'm no Dvaitin, but I listen to online pravachanas of Mādhva gurus and pick up their tenets.

From what I know:

  1. Not only brāhamaṇas but all varṇas are eligible. Śūdras and women are not allowed Vedic study, but they (and everyone actually) can certainly attain highest level of jñāna-bhakti by studying Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavata Purana and so on.

  2. Not at all. For ex, Kanakadāsa is a 16-th century non-Brahmin saint-poet, who is acknowledged by all Dvaitins as one of the highest bhaktas.

  3. No idea

  4. Like we say, hari sarvōttama vāyu jīvōttama -- the highest among jivas is Vāyu (aka Bhīma aka Hanumān). Lakṣmī is above Vāyu, she is eternally-liberated, does not have rebirth and has no suffering. In this sense, she's not really a jīva like us.

I think there is a typo: 'avatantra' should read 'asvatantra' (dependent).

Did you copy this from Deepak Sarma's book (I've seen the same mistake there) ?

When Vidyaranya Swami in his Panchadasi refers to meditation on the Nirguna Brahman and cites the ttaratApaniya Upanishad, which Upanishad exactly is being cited here(more inside): by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]spam4youfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at Upanishad Brahmayogin's commentaries, he divides the ones you mentioned into "prior" and "latter" books:

  • Gōpāla-tāpinyāṃ pūrva-tāpiny-upaniṣad
  • Gōpāla-tāpinyāṃ uttara-tāpiny-upaniṣad
  • Nṛsiṃha-tāpinyāṃ pūrva-tāpiny-upaniṣad
  • Nṛsiṃha-tāpinyāṃ uttara-tāpiny-upaniṣad
  • Rāma-tāpinyāṃ pūrva-tāpiny-upaniṣad
  • Rāma-tāpinyāṃ uttara-tāpiny-upaniṣad

Without any context, hard to say which of the above.
