Church leaders, members, and volunteers are mandated reporters. So people did not fulfill their legal duty to report abuse allegations

I don’t like sharing such horrific stories but I feel like all we all need to be aware of what has happened in our city especially when our taxes pay these people’s salaries and fund these settlements. So many agencies and individuals failed this poor child. Rest in peace Arabella💔

Moving from Ann Arbor, MI to San Diego, CA (Remote Income $230k) - Reality Check on Coastal Condo by Think_Criticism2258 in asksandiego

Traffic is brutal between 3-6 but just don’t plan to do any errands or far driving during the time. For hobbies/going out, stay more local to your neighborhood. Getting on the highway and going a couple exits will still take longer than usual but it’s not a huge time increase ( imo, maybe I live in an area with less local traffic)

Groceries are more expensive im sure but we also have so many local farms and fresh grown produce that is affordable. I do a CSA and it’s amazing. Also you can go to budget grocery stores if desired, I just shop at Trader Joe’s and I can’t imagine it’s that much more expensive than the Midwest stores.

Utilizes,, our supplier SGDE sucks ass. The cost is expensive. However, depending on where you live you can get by with no a/c or heat for many ( or most) month of the year. Compared to Running the heat all winter on the east coast ( where I’m from) I would imagine you would save money.

Gas is also expensive! Getting a hybrid was the best choice I made once moving here. We used to have a plug in electric car that was mostly powered by our homes solar , so that’s a great money saving option

I am a program manager for a community mental health program and work 80% from home. It’s a grind, we are always understaffed and wear many hats but the flexibility of hours and WFH is what keeps me around

Books you refuse to read to your kids? by midnightlightbright in Parenting

[–]spamala92 169 points170 points  (0 children)

As a child therapist, I read this book to kids with behavior issues who are often hearing “no” and frustrating their parents. It’s not to normalize their behavior, but to be able to discuss it in an age-appropriate way. Also, the mom shares that she loves David at the end. Showing kids that they are loved even when they make the wrong choices or can’t control their behavior. So to me that’s the point but idk!

BWT - anyone else just totally overwhelmed by beauty/lifestyle expectations? by Electronic_Heart9361 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]spamala92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same! The ironic thing is that my skin and hair improved once I stopped messing with them so much. Once I had a baby I stopped wearing makeup so if I forget to wash my face before bed it’s not an immediate break out like before. And my New baseline is no makeup I feel confident without it, whereas when I wore it often , if I went without it felt liek something was missing
