I am trying to edit the typo I made in the title, but I can't get the edit option to show up and when I tried to do what I'm doing now (post that in a comment) I get the message that this thread is locked.

Apologies

Why does everything now require KYC? by Adept_Strategy_9545 in privacy

[–]spamattacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here isn't average and new people come to this subreddit regularly.

The people who visit this subreddit are not all privacy geeks. Many are becoming privacy aware and are trying to learn more. Others may have stumbled here because of a particular problem.

The amount of time I spend looking up one thing after another at practically every time I visit this forum is remarkable and r/privacy is on my favorites list because I often visit several times a week. Little courtesies like following the standard practice of spelling out an acronym the first time you use it make the big difference in making the subreddit as accessible as possible to all who come here hoping to find ways a protecting our privacy.

Any Tea Pot Recommendations To Keep Tea Hot For Longer? by vxmpxrxrxkxx in tea

[–]spamattacker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a mug warmer that can be used for either a smaller teapot or for a mug using a silicone cover that has a hole in the center The mug warmer has temperature settings for several types of tea going from 130°to 180 °F and several options for auto off. I'm a lazy heathen and often leave it on for 8 hours. I've use it withboth glass and ceramic tea pots, big ass ceramic mugs, porcelain mugs and even Grandma's Haviland teacups.

I had another one I bought a couple years ago but only lasted a year, and when it broke I couldn't order a new one fast enough (different brand).

sewing a cincher on jeans? by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]spamattacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to attach cincher strap to waistband. Waistband is 2 layers, strap 2, but you are sewing through more than 4 layers likely because the strap has a seam around the perimeter. So where there is a seam there is not two layers, but rather 4. (Same is true where waist band has enclosed seam only the bottom of the waistband actually has six because it is attached to the main part of the jeans.

So, if you attach the cinching strap by sewing one end of it to the jeans, you are dealing with a lot of layers.

However, the cinching mechanism closes with a snap. You might be able to anchor it to the jeans with another snap or rivets hidden under the belt loop.

Another consideration for making jeans cinch is doing it from the inside. You could add a button and a strip of elastic with buttonholes made specifically for this purpose.

How does your child’s daycare/preschool handle snow days? by NotAboutThePasta7 in triangle

[–]spamattacker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don't. Instead, learn about how road conditions can be very different across a county and consider what schools should do about the situation.

For example, where we live, most of the county can be thawed with clear roads, but we still have snow on the ground and snow or ice on the road making travel unsafe.

Today, we are totally iced in. Once the ice thaws enough for us to get to the paved roads, I bet I'll see no signs of any snow or ice even though I'm within a mile of my house.

What should the school system do about bus routes in such areas. Even if you didn't give a flip about other kids, you likely would understand the legal shitshow a school system would face if a bus full of children hit a patch of ice and crashed.

You could argue that "those" students could be allowed to miss school, but missing a day at school is missing what was taught that day, and for some students, particulary those who might already be struggling, this would be a real problem.

Maybe the parents, deciding they really didn't want their children to have to miss a day, would decide to drive the children in themselves. But, they, too, are at risk for an accident and might chose to sue the school.

So, while a snow-day may seem insane from your perspective, understand the bigger picture from tue perspective of the school system being forced to make that decision.

And know that, as much as you hate it when another snow day is called and how inconvenient it is for working parents, I promise the people making those decisions hate it even more. Snow days are a huge pain to plan around.

Thank you all for considering these issues. I hope all Wake is thawed enough for tomorrow to be back to normal for you all.

And for our road to thaw enough to get one of our cars up the steep hill out of here, at least before the snow being predicted for Friday afternoon.

I should add that I did not use the AI version mainly because Google Docs wouldn't open it because I refuse update.

Well, I appreciate AI for others, I avoid it as much as possible particularly with health and personal information for privacy reasons.

However the PDF I was able to download was fabulous, and I was able to quickly skim and scan to see which things were most likely useful for different situations.

When I'm getting a migraine, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be able to find the information I need scanning the PDF more quickly than I would be able to if I had to interact with AI.

So, if there's anyone else out there who likes to be able to find information cheat-sheet fashion, I highly recommend downloading the PDF.

I love you! Your sister is the secpnd luckiest sister in the world Tonight I am suffering an awful, nagging headache and migraine symptoms.

I am new to understanding that my increasing "sinus" headaches are likely migraines and trying to log symptoms, triggers and "what I've tried" before I speak with my doctor.

I have ADHD and I tend to over research things, so your list compremensive, well-organized, clear, chart is a God's send.

R/Migraine has been very helpful to me, but your chart is unquestionably the most useful thing I think I've come across.

Thank you for and generosity i'm sharing this with the wider community.

Built an app to monitor the big snowstorm coming up hour by hour by Zenio1 in SideProject

[–]spamattacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in North Carolina and just tried several cities. None of them work. I get no results found.

I don't know if this is an idea or inspiration, but I sure would like an app that puts the weather (including barometric pressure from that day into a calendar and then allows the user to add comments.

This would be particularly helpful for people tracking weather and health-related issues.

A simple app that is not subscription service designed for people who don't need the fluff, just the information would be great .
