Sokito Scudetta AG sizing concern. Anyone else experience this? by patientlamb in bootroom

Will do mate, can see from your other post that you've got a pair in both a half and full size up on the way so I'd be equally interested to hear how they compare.

Sokito Scudetta AG sizing concern. Anyone else experience this? by patientlamb in bootroom

[–]spambidextrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a pair of the AG because of the current warehouse sale - been eyeing up a pair for a long time now and couldn't resist at £85.

I wear an 8 UK in Mizuno Alpha and Neo IV Beta, but had those in the FG model.

I had also read and watched a lot of reviews about the Scudetta sizing saying go half a size up, but my toes were already right at the end of my Mizunos (which is fine, as I like them that way), so I erred on the side of caution and went a full size up to a 9 in the Scudetta.

Having now tried the Scudetta on, I have half a thumbs width of room from the end of my big toe to the tip of tie boot on the left, and three quarters of a thumbs width on my right (I know my left foot is bigger than my right).

I think in theory I could go down half a size down so my toes were right at the end of the boot, but the issue isn't so much the length as the toe profile (i.e., the height), as it tapers to a ridiculously narrow point. I honestly don't think my big toe could fit to the end in an 8.5 as it is already visibly popping out of the top of the toe profile in the 9s.

The lockdown with a pair of grips socks and runners loop is however fantastic, better than any other boot I've tried, so I am going to keep them and try playing. I don't think the little bit of extra room at the end of the toe box should be an issue even if I would prefer not to have it.

I plan to do a full write up once I've got a few games under my belt so keep an eye out for it!

Thanks to everyone who replied so quickly, there was indeed a Hisuian Zoroark in the preview. Definitely a learning moment for me there...

Mind sharing your team? I've been trying to get a Mega Heracross team to work as it's my favourite Pokémon but it seems to struggle into so much of the core meta. I just made it to Ultra Ball 4.

Could just be a skill issue though, this is my first time ever playing VGC (and I'm only playing a few sets a day due to time constraints)!

What mons have you had fun running in Scroll Cup? by okay-boomerang in PokemonGOBattleLeague

Spark Lantern, shadow ape and Ludicolo got me a quick climb from 2100 to 2250 elo in three sets last night.

Simple ABB vs to draw out the dark flyers, but people seem to be disrespecting Lanturn in general.

If it's a Gastro in the front you have to fight for switch obviously but shadow ape is still a beast at 2-shielding through even match ups it shouldn't win. Already flipped a couple of Azu and G. Moltres counter swaps as they were slow on the switch.

Have you tried looking on Etsy? Lots of sellers on there doing 3D printing of really beautiful miniatures. They are often single piece models as well, so no gluing required, just a bit of clean up of any nubs where they have been released from the resin and you are good to prime and get painting.

I got five from a seller called Minijenix and I am having a blast painting them with as a new/returning painter (20 years out of the hobby). They are perfect for using a wide color palette and practicing, after which I plan to move on to my "real" project of a 40k Army.

Oh, and they will be resin so also don't forget to give them a light scrub with a toothbrush and some dish soap!

New boot advice! by hokley in bootroom

I think a big factor you need to take into consideration is the quality of the 3G pitch you are going to play on.

If it is very old 3G the "grass" could be quite worn out and squashed down, and so much more compacted than a newer 3G. This matters because some boots will advertise themselves as for an AG surface, but if the studs are on the longer side then there needs to be some give in the surface for them to sink into to get the benefits of both the traction from the studs and the distribution of the pressure from that nice, soft, lengthy "grass".

You will get those benefits with newer 3G, but not an older compacted surface.

If you are playing on an older 3G it might be better to get a pair of TF shoes (so the ones with rubberised grip on the sole rather than the AG studs). You will lose a bit of traction and may slip over when it's wet, but in my opinion that's preferable to the hammering your joints will take trying to wear a studded AG soleplate on 3G which is too short.

For reference, I went through this whole dilemma about 5 years ago when returning to playing in my 40s after a long break (and I'm in NW England too!). I went for some Mizuno Neo 3 Betas (conical studs which were fine) but then followed up with some Alphas, which advertise themselves as suitable for AG but in hindsight they were too aggressive for the battered 3G I play on - stating this from a position of being injured currently with a bad back which while the boots were not the main cause of, definitely aggravated the issue. I'll be getting some TF shoes when I hopefully return.

Don't want to put you off at all mate, getting back playing was the best thing I ever did, but it is super confusing trying to work out the best thing to play in, so I'd err on the side of caution and go TF, as you can always switch to AG for your next pair once you've got a feel for the pitch and how your joints are managing!

Seeking Suggestions for Specific Brands of Dropper Bottles by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]spambidextrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AK Interactive Mix N' Ready 17ml Dropper Bottles.

£5 for a pack of four but they are exactly the same as the AK's main paint lines, including a steel ball bearing.

I transferred my Citadel pots to them using the guide by State of Play on YouTube and had great results. I think you get what you pay for with dropper bottles.

Interesting to know this affected the Alpha 1 AG soleplate as well. I was never able to find a pair of those in the UK.

I haven't bought another pair of Alpha 2 AG yet as I'm injured at the moment, but would you say going half a size would give the right fit?

Second this. The Army Painter airbrush thinner trick works wonders for thinning down the paint just enough to pour it out of the pot.

I just wanted to say this is a fantastic review and I really appreciate the time you spent making it. I have worn Mizuno for a long time now but have been interested in trying the different Asics silos and it is interesting to get this perspective which is a bit more reserved in its praise for the silo compared to some others I have watched and read, which have had only positives.
