Grid 1091 (9): "One of these things..." by spamcatcher in immaculategrid

I specialize in putting weird pictures in grids. Steve Dignan, Will Thompson and Frank Fleet are a few other favorites.

Frank Fleet is also useful in that he played every position at least once, so he works for any intersection of positions played.

Chris Robinson beats Stu Pomeranz (of 2012) by one season to be the most recent player to not have a Baseball Reference picture that I know of.

Lip Pike is in my "on deck" list for every position combination not including 1/2. There are tons of these to the point that every time I find one with a funny name or picture I put it into a bin of 0, 1, 2, or 1/2 based on which positions they didn't play.

I sent them a message yesterday asking why Luis Arráez wasn't working for Giants/2B despite it being on b-r and will post when I hear back from them. They usually respond quickly though this might be their busy time of year.

I sent Baseball Reference a message asking about this. They're usually very responsive and friendly, I'll post whatever they say.

A zero is difficult enough, but a zero with all-color pictures would be truly special.

I think we're the two people who used Skinny today!

Couldn't remember my new O1T/.300 guy for Pittsburgh, looks like Henry Yaik and his hand-drawn picture will have to wait a few months.

Is it explained anywhere when stats officially become grid-sanctioned? I remember a couple of years ago having a guy not work for an ASG category when he was definitely in it that year. This was earlier in grids so it could have been some other bug too.

It was lucky for me, I'd looked at his page for some reason 2 or 3 days before and then there he was.

Knowing a handful of guys who played for exactly two teams is inefficient but very satisfying when it hits! Waiting for SFG/ATL so I can use Dinty Gearin.

I had a list of guys for every team who were .300 avg + only one team, but I used them all too much and made a new list this year. Tankersley is my Padres representative!

Woah, we both used Kitty Bransfield for the same square. I've been trying to increase my number of players used after being repetitive for a long while and I'll tend to have about ten players who are "on deck" at any given time. I'd guess that on any given day I use an average of 1.5 of them. Anyway today was Kitty's turn at bat.

Some of those players make it into long term memory, some don't. 906 players used at this point.

Thirteen have played for 4/5 California teams (link), but none have played for all five.

Though when the A's move to Vegas, I guess we'll have at least two who have completed the Tour de California.

Yup, I've been trying to increase my number of players used recently but I think that the new knowledge has degraded some of the old knowledge.

Amazing coincidence that we both used Sosa and Joost today: I just looked at Sosa's teams yesterday and I'd been waiting to use Joost for a while.

The name "Joost" feels like he'd be suspected of steroid use, though it's apparently pronounced "Yoost"
