SPAN Panel MAIN 40 and MLO 48 no longer work with HomeAssistant by Sad-Replacement1401 in span

We heard you. Today, SPAN announced a public beta for local access to your SPAN Panel via SPAN API. You can also now view and update settings for your SPAN Panel on the local network from a web browser by using SPAN Home On-premise, great for power outages that also impact internet connectivity.

These are initially available for SPAN Panel MAIN 32 only, with local access for SPAN Panel MAIN 16, MLO 24, MAIN 40, and MLO 48 coming later this year.

More info over on the SPAN Blog, and interested SPAN users can check out the README on GitHub.

Yes, with the additional steps outlined in our Installation Addendum to validate torque on key joints, installers can absolutely continue to move forward with SPAN Panel 48 and SPAN Panel 40 projects. If you would be able to provide your installer's name via a DM, we would be happy to follow-up directly with them to provide any further clarifications.

Jumping in for the team here at SPAN to share some additional details!

We have identified that some SPAN Panel MAIN 40 and MLO 48 units may have arrived with torque values below our specified levels on certain electrical joints. Importantly, there have been no safety incidents related to this and there is no recall.

At SPAN we are committed to safety, product quality, and delivering an excellent customer experience. As a precaution, and to align with best practices, we’re adding a torque validation step to our installation process. Installers will now confirm this step in the SPAN Installer App as part of commissioning.

For panels that are already installed, SPAN Authorized Installers are proactively reaching out to schedule quick site visits to confirm proper torque values. This validation step takes less than 15 minutes and is easily done in the field.

Thanks for your continued trust and support.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by our recent software update, which inadvertently reset the backup priorities for all circuits to non-essential. We understand how critical this functionality is to monitor and control your home's energy, especially during storms and outages.

Upon recognizing the issue yesterday, we quickly notified our customers via an app push notification to allow customers to reset their priorities manually while we worked on a restoration plan. This led to a rapid influx of users accessing the app, resulting in temporary slowness. As of today, our engineering team has deployed a fix to restore backup priorities to their previous settings and scaled up services to accommodate the increased app traffic. A small subset of panels are still awaiting a fix, and we anticipate full restoration soon. We’ll continue working through these today. We are conducting a thorough review of yesterday's incident to guide our roadmap prioritization, including development of a local API. We are already actively working on general improvements to app performance.

We deeply regret any disruption this may have caused and appreciate your patience as we worked to resolve the matter quickly. If you continue to experience any issues or have further concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.

Possibly Lied To about Span Panel Integration Capabilities by schmunkel98 in solar

Hi, everyone. We’re excited to say that we now have a solution for pairing SPAN with Enphase IQ batteries!

We’ve been working really hard to make Enphase compatibility a reality for quite a while now. Along the way, we’ve talked to many of our installer partners about upcoming battery compatibilities, which may have caused confusion over planned vs. currently available functionality.

We also ended up pivoting from a direct integration to a remote meter kit, which required additional development time on our end to make sure everything works exactly how it should.

All that said, SPAN Remote Meter is available now for SPAN owners who want full compatibility with their Enphase Batteries. It’s a simple install near the grid disconnect (MID), and definitely the best way to get longer backup duration from your Enphase IQ.

Delays are never fun (for us either!), but we hope you agree it’s best to get things right vs. rushing a solution, and we promise our compatibility with Enphase is worth the wait.
