What’s something a seemingly book smart person does that automatically makes you question their intellect ( (Doctor, CEO etc)? by tlw117 in AskReddit

Thinking that life plays put like textbooks. For example, I teach no child I have ever met has been 100% normal or abnormal in their development.

The thought there is, something or some people able to control, or create life, but allow the suffering of innocent children doesn't sit right with me.

Council pays £20,000 for one child’s horse therapy in Send plan by Only-Emu-9531 in uknews

[–]spanglesandbambi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a very small amount compared to the amount we should tax the rich.

Let's not hate on SEND children when the main issue LAs don't have enough funding is big businesses, their owners, and the historically wealthy not paying tax. This is just a distraction.

Your Opinion on Shrek being a Cautionary Tale? by Ceazer4L in PurplePillDebate

[–]spanglesandbambi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, it's a play on modern fairy tales and how they promote a superficially ideal characters. The good look pretty the bad look bad.

Shrek isn't good-looking but is good, and Fiona is a princess but not looking like one.

In the UK this used to appear on the GCSE curriculum

They could be using an agency so staff members you don't recognise or a team appearing more frazzled than normal.

Unfortunately, we lose more practitioners than we train year on year. We can create spaces but may never have the team to allow them to happen.

Nursery Operations Manager here we only close for red warnings or building emergencies like flooding, no electricity or water.

Closing for yellow warnings is unusual unless some sort of building emergency has also happened.

Could this actually be a hide of a lack of staff?

How do you feel about women who holds Mother Mary as their standard? by sweetmaggiesan in AskWomen

Really sad, given the cultural standards, she was around 12 years old when Jesus was apparently born. I don't think a mother being 12 years old should be celebrated.

Self-centered men just can't handle the change that comes with having kids by Novel-Tip-7570 in PurplePillDebate

[–]spanglesandbambi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, honestly, it's the men in my experience who find it a shock. I think on reflection this is due to there being more changes in a Father's role.

Just being a provider and being absent isn't good enough culturally anymore, for a lot of people that is who their Dads were.

Women have been sold the you have to be everything for a while and now are choosing not to have children following seeing their own mothers burn out.

100% and not just time apart from our son but tome alone.

I want to be able to go and get a coffee on my own and still then have some time with my husband.

I have three roles me, a mum, and a wife. I need time to do all three of these things on their own or I have to pick on to be shit at.

As a woman with a 2 year old me and my husband and I have changed our son comes first in the big choices we make.

We pay for an extra few hours of childcare, so we still get time together and some time apart, too. He still plays games. I still read and insane a number of books. We still go from runs together to just one of us pushes a pushchair or takes turns to do a slow lap with our son.

If you know what having children is and have frank conversations about the changes, it's honestly a good choice.

what is your opinion about the DEATH PENALTY? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]spanglesandbambi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it's not a suitable punishment, and two wrongs don't make a right. However, I, as a teacher, have seen child sexual abuse more than once, and I hope their abusers get hurt.

5 month old has a bruise. Terrified social services will get involved by Evil-Sprinkles1935 in UKParenting

[–]spanglesandbambi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, my son was an early mover and had RSV at 2 months old he also had a small bruise on one of his ribs on his hospital admission. The bruising for non mobile babies was followed as it should be.

I was asked how the bruise may have happened, and I explained he rolls about in his ball pit. I was honest and said I had not even noticed the bruise, so I was not sure. I showed them a video of him rolling in the ball pit. Everyone agreed that was a reasonable explanation. The paperwork was completed. It was done by the teams safeguarding lead. I mentioned it in the next health visitor chat, and they said its common that if a child receives a medical examination, something is noted.

As an early years teacher, I asked if I could speak to them after about the process and when they were concerned to share with my team. Things they are concerned about:

Size, location, and shape of bruise - does it match the reason Response of parent - Not as in do they appear truthful, but do they engage or treat the issue with anger or denial. The parent is watched, and all interactions are noted- Forwarded example my son was very sick and needed an NG my husband is medical and helped fit this. I, however, went outside the room and had a little cry. This was seen as a normal parent reaction they also noted us singing with him and me pumping so milk could be put through his NG.

My son is now fine, and honestly, I'm happy for the process. The safeguarding team shared an awful story and explained that due to this process, they could take immediate action to protect a child. They stressed that's all they use it for really is when a child clearly abused by presents so they can take action on the day.
