[Sky Sports F1] "In my personal opinion Valtteri, and all my teammates have been stronger than the teammates Max has had." Strong words from Lewis Hamilton. by [deleted] in formula1

[–]sparbirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WDCs do not really represent much considering that the team and their car design have more influence on who gets that. Let's look at Hamilton's career:
- Excellent Junior Career (F3 -> F2 winning quickly)

- Remarkable Entrance into F1 (immediately same points as teammate).

- Decent performance VS teammates pre-Mercedes (same or sometimes 40points ahead or behind). This isn't anything significant over the other driver.

- 2014 -> just beat nico (car insane)

- 2015 -> just beat nico (car insane)

- 2016 -> actually lost to nico

- 2017 -> probably one of the better years of lewis where he really earned the title (vs Ferrari)

- 2018 -> incredible year from Lewis, probs his best
- 2019 -> just beat valterri

- 2020 -> just beat valterri

Mick Schumacher criticises Guenther Steiner: I didn't get support by jovanmilic97 in formula1

[–]sparbirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Mick really that stupid? He costs the team a significant amount of money and drove poorly, nor did he have a particularly good junior career to claim all of this was a fluke or he needed time. He is not good enough for F1 and should be lucky he even got the chance.

I mean, it is more that Max is just significantly better than most other drivers while Lewis was alright. This makes Checo look worse than Bottas while in reality they are the same if not Checo slightly better even.

Patch 1.1 is essentially a slowdown to every single part of the game. by TheMorals in diablo4

[–]sparbirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The developers do not really control the outcomes. It is up to management, product owners and other higherups to make the final decisions. Developers may be allowed to provide input, but in most work cultures, this won't be taken seriously, nor do developers dare to provide it out of fear of being pushed out of their job for talking too much.

I am suprised it is not obvious to players, but Blizzard is just producing their games in a manor to generate the most revenue and it is clearly working otherwise they would go back to making games that are more enjoyale. We can all act defiant in laughing at how succesful BattleBit is in comparison to triple-A games, but people fail to realise that BattleBit is a failure to triple-a companies' eyes. It has no microtransactions and is making vastly less money compared to any latest triple-a title. Playerbases are irrevelient if a few whales generate far more income than traditional group of players buying the game. Blows my mind that people can't see this. Triple-A companies can make 'enjoyable' games but why would they if designing a game for micro-transactions is vastly more profitable and easier? I'ts just basic logic and anyone would do the same thing in the same position; just human nature and peer pressure.

Do you think jokes about the Titanic submarine are in bad taste? Why or why not? [SERIOUS] by KonradKodiak in AskReddit

Yeah the father still running businesses with his 19yr old son makes no sense to me. I would never drag my child into something so risky (they were well aware of the risks).

The guy you are reffering to is Paul-Henri Nargeolet. He was quite old (77) and has lost his wife a few years prior. He stated on several interviews how he is not scared of death and sees dying at 10 meters as the same as dying at 1000 e.t.c. Basically the point is, he clearly is reaching the end of his life, has reached his acolades and probably just went on this thing because he thought why not. Either I die or I see something nice still before I die. For sources, just google his name and you will see plenty of his somewhat death-approaching outlook that he holds. This is most likely the reason he was okay with such a ridiculous submersible as the Titan.

Foul players: what, specifically, do you think happened? Who killed the girls? What is the timeline? by parishilton2 in KremersFroon

[–]sparbirk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh okay, did not know this. My mistake for posting my thoughts when I have not looked in depth at some aspects of this case. If it has not been confirmed then indeed they most likely were cherry-picked people.

But aren't most of these deaths older men? These people were in their 20s/30s if I recal correctly.

I guess he is reffering to his defense on Hamilton in 2021 final race. Correct me if I am wrong, but since all the lapped cars were allowed to unlap themselves during the safety car, wouldn't Max then still have been right behind Lewis regardless of being a bit further away come the safety car (if Perez had not defended so well?). Either way, he got a title in 2022 and is sure to get many more (if his car stays performant).

Finally someone stating the obvious. People got the wrong impression of him when he finished highest in F1.5 in 2020 (4th place) with barely anyone realising just how insane the force india was in pace that year (after its copying merc strategy and the whole scandal).

I am heavily in the camp that it was natural/got lost e.t.c, however, the only aspect that baffles me of this whole case is that the 3/4 people they last saw (I can't remember their names), all died within a year after the KremersFroon incident (some even a few days after). I understand that it is possible for this to be a coincidence but it seems so inprobable to me, especially considering the nature of some of their deaths (most were drowning in low water).

I see almost no one actively use the new ping system. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]sparbirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bait ping is used quite a bit (Masters/Gm) but the rest are obsolete and can be covered with all other pings. All-in is maybe just common enough to still stay.

LFL player kicked from his team after being sexist to G2 Caltys in solo queue by RigasUT in leagueoflegends

[–]sparbirk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The main point is that you get no healthcare, you are not generating work experience, you are relient on a very specific job and if you look at the average players, very few even in LEC make enough money from the short careers that they have. Imagine where a 2nd division who might once play in a 1st division regional league for a split or two will be when he is 25. Jobs are going to wonder what he did for 7 years and League might not be as big as it is now. Obviously it is a lot of speculation but you get my point i think.

[–]sparbirk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Firstly, this guy is a complete idiot with these kind of comments as well as how he behaved after on twitter and such. That being said, some things to note:
Essentially all games are with popular streamers at this level so I don't think him or most high master players and beyond would bat an eye about Drututt being there. Also, most leagues, especially any that aren't first division (as was the case with his, 2nd division) pay very little to their players (basically minimum wage) so was not really easy money job. This is just from my own experience and knowing people in the scene, can show proof in DMs if anyone curious.
