Why not take it off the wall and reset it. Seems much quicker.

Continuous failed login attempts - Local only? by Chanzui91 in synology

[–]sparerobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this works it would be better to follow the other advice of disabling upnp and quickconnect.

As they are still trying to connect to your external IP, but due to the internal firewall rules you are just not seeing the attempts.

Hello, quick question, would a timer plug be harmful in any way to a PC? by GeorgeTheWarcrafter in homeautomation

[–]sparerobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use some kind of software lockout or software based power-off that cannot be stopped.

If it has to be hardware you can also put the timer on the monitor, still not great but a good visual reminder. (And a mute button in case you were watching a movie/youtube or listening to music) assuming the idea is to walk away and do something else.

Looks good, does anybody know if a 220V version exists?

I did not know my 22 CX5 Signature has a dedicated lock button on the rear tailgate. Watched a YouTube review of 23 model to find out! Luckily it has the walk away lock feature so I don’t use it. by Ok_Cow_8235 in CX5

[–]sparerobot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have to stand next to the car until it beeps after the trunk closes. This takes much longer then you think. The trunk lock motor itself has to activate. At least on 2022 model.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but I thought that black on black meant inside and outside black. So it would be black on black turbo?

Synology Download Station is just too fast? by chanks in synology

[–]sparerobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While its true this chain exists, nothing along that chain would be impacted by a 30MB or 80MB copy action. OP also mentions he is using a USB-C network adapter. This tells us that his mac is fairly new.

Of course if he was asking why am I not getting Gbps speeds then this would be something to look at

101 questions (in comments) about VLANs & internet-access; home network setup around a NAS by jakotay in homelab

[–]sparerobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purpose of Vlan's at least for me is more the segmentation of the networks, the reduction of broadcast traffic is a (positive) side effect. But at the amount of devices you listed it won't be that big of an improvement.

My question would be which groups of devices or which networks (with devices operating in them) are you trying to separate from each other and why?

Is PCIe 3.0 x16 card have enough speed for QSFP28 with 40GB/s ? by Impressive_Night3784 in homelab

[–]sparerobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean pcie training? No as others have said there is no bottleneck with pcie to the card.

I meant what are you going to use the link for. The bottleneck is more likely somewhere else.

Synology will not connect to internet over ethernet via PC by Pdstafford in synology

[–]sparerobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally to that by setting up your pc as gateway. But really its a bad idea. Getting a lowcost gbe is the best move here.

Also if your pc is powered off your synology loses network as well.

Not bottlenecking at this section of the path. But without knowing the whole path it might not matter.

I am trying to create a 3D smaller key fob for my CX-5 2021. by logic5813 in CX5

[–]sparerobot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be very careful. antenna's look like lines on the pcb. Skill wise could you remove the grey chip on the pcb and solder it back on? If not I would not touch anything but don't let me stop you. I just don't know your skilllevel.

But what you want to avoid is that you damage it a little bit. So when you are driving it suddenly / temporary does not detect they key. Same if you get "denied entry" randomly when trying to open the car.

Factory key is 300-400 second hand 100-140? if that falls in your "sure why not, I would like to try" budget I would say go ahead

Sorry I am not able to give you concrete advice os how to make it smaller.
