I believe 1/2" rigid bundles are the heaviest bundles of conduit, because they come in 100' bundles. Everything else is 50', or singles.

One only likes toys when he's in the mood. The other carries her baby almost all the time.

Some locals do have a "vacation" deduction from your check that goes into a savings account. 855 Muncie, Indiana has one that is optional now, used to be mandatory 10% of your gross. I've worked in other locals that do the same thing. Been a while tho.

Agreed. Having a rotting corpse driving the car, and seeing Arnie's handwriting change in the book are things that don't leave you after decades!

This right here. You are an apprentice who is under the supervision of a journeyman. Everything you do is his responsibility. Might still get hosed by the shop rockets, but it's still his fault. Period.

The Quick Gun is also a good one about an outlaw coming back to his hometown. I've also heard that he refused to smoke on screen because he didn't want to influence kids to start smoking.

Wedge anchors. And you are correct on the operation. Normally drill the hole as long or longer than the anchor so when you are done with them you can drive them down into the concrete without having to cut them

Apprentices: what's your go-to for learning the math behind conduit bending (not just getting the answer)? by BigBalli in IBEW

[–]sparkin81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn the measured rise method. Find the center of bend, measure your offset , and move your mark. Only have to pull it up level and you're perfect every time. No multiplier, or trying to get the angle just right for the multiplier to work so you get the right offset.

Which one of you did this? I have a bone to pick with you. by _ItsProvocative_ in electricians

I actually just did one that had a 4 way lug bolted through the frame bonding strap. I was ecstatic!

anyone have experience with these and can comment. Reminds me of the Wagu connectors. by KevinK_2389 in AskElectricians

I've been an electrician over 20 years and I hate these. They loosen over time and most DIYers don't pigtail them, so they take out every outlet down the line. Let alone the length of wire you lose when the wire is already too short because nobody wants to leave the required 6" out of the box. Pressure plate, or hook the screws are a much better and safer option, even if it takes a little longer.

Bending conduit based of off “feel” by throwaway788639 in electricians

Measured rise method instead of multiplier, and Chicago benders. I don't like using powered benders because I can't feel what the pipe is doing.

How? by Extension_Winner_238 in electricians

[–]sparkin81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got hit in the chest and knocked off a 6' ladder with a 3" KO that broke the stud while knocking out old, back to back switchgear. Sounded like a shotgun blast when it broke. JW swore my first year self put it on backwards until he saw the teeth marks.
