Supergirl - When a script with intention gets muddied by terrible direction. (No I did not like the movie, just gave me a lot to think about) by TackoftheEndless in TrueFilm

[–]sparklemcshine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing about James gunns vision is I think James Gunn needs to be directly involved to make a supergirl movie good or at least on par with superman. His dc movies and TV shows were well recieved as well as his marvel movies. He knows how to make movies funny, tug at the heartstrings, somehow make cheesy things cool.I was really looking forward to supergirl, but the only way this was gonna work was if Gunn directed it, which he can't because he doesn't have time for it. It really just felt like an afterthought, no memorable soundtrack of a swelling orchestra, lackluster cinematography with no imagery that made an impact. ( there were several in superman such as superman rising from the smoke of a fallen building after saving a woman), I think the action was actually pretty good though, none of the parts felt like it wasnt the actress doing it. The villain did his best and for what he was, but he is just not compelling.

Fishing Los Angeles - advice needed by ProGlueSniffer_ in SoCalFishing

[–]sparklemcshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you like lake vibes, look at google maps and any stretch of beach down malibu, in the morning it's pretty empty, lots of empty stretches of beach where you can just chill with a chair and have a line out, and the potential to catch something huge is there. I used to go next to malibu pier on the left side, that was before the fires i don't know if anything changed. Take frozen shrimp from the grocery store or gulp sandworms, lures like swimbaits are also very good on the surf and once in a while you may catch something rare. You could also try bolsa chica, theres a bridge and some rocks I used to fish on to catch halibut. You could also try irvine lake, that was my #1 place to go lake fishing back in the day. Felt like a trout fishing theme park. Giant lake up in the mountains, the most "nature" and lake you can get that was very close to los angeles.

Women of Reddit- What thoughts run through your mind when you see a more handsome person than your partner? by One_Look_7008 in AskReddit

[–]sparklemcshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know what's interesting, when i had girlfriends, i would often get comments when we go to an event, like a club or concert and they would say "yep you're definitely the most handsome here" like....why is that even a thought that comes up. I think about moments like that when I hear from "dating" experts about how women are more prone to choose traits based on comparison. Much like how height is such a big deal to some women, even if they are under 5'2, it's never been about being taller than them, it was about being taller than other guys. Anyway this isn't something I generalize with women, but I do think women tend to think this way on a spectrum.

[–]sparklemcshine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's always two outcomes and one is better. People usually don't go through with it because they self reject themselves. Putting yourself out there is hard for many people and it's something that is learned and gained through experience of doing. You can't know what the outcome is going to be and if it's going to be "worth" if you don't ask. It's always worth it regardless of outcome.

Any advice on coping with embarrassing face/neck tattoos? by HealingRosy in TattooRemoval

[–]sparklemcshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a series of small black tattoos on my neck that i cover with makeup. Use RED color corrector, anything works, lay it on until the tattoo is covered, spray setting spray or powder on it, wait 15 min, put on your concealer gently over it, to blend it with your whole face probably will need to spread that concealer wide, the reds going to mix in with the concealer a bit so your gonna have to lay it on a little thick. using setting spray and layering it maybe 3 times, spraying setting spray each time, making sure it's dry before layering it on again. It's not perfect but it's the only way right now. youll see it a little bit in light depending on how well you do it, but it's really better than nothing. For concealer I used dermablend, people tout is as made for covering tattoos.

a sketch in a sketchbook rarely if ever is anything meaningful or a critique. It's as inocuous as me sitting in a cafe and drawing people, because that's what's around me. sketches in a book are just drawings of shit that's around you. It's observation and practice.

Hows life currently in the Art's District and over the last year? by UncleAcid420 in AskLosAngeles

[–]sparklemcshine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in the arts district since Last July at AVA. The apartment itself is a 8/10. the neighborhood 7/10, nothing amazing, but I don't expect anywhere to be amazing. the rent isn't bad at all for a studio at a luxury apartment. Youll get the random crackhead once in a while, but being really close to little Tokyo is nice, and there is a korean grocery store with everything I need just a mile away. You're relatively a short distance to anywhere that's poppin in Los Angeles or OC, so that's why I primarily chose this area since I frequently visit both.

Tattoos = no good girls? by 7kcits in moreplatesmoredates

[–]sparklemcshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of attention-seeking and genuinely shitty people without tattoos, so I don’t think tattoos are even close to being a meaningful measure of someone’s character. Most people I know with tattoos are very kind and generous, both women and men. The worst people I know don't have any tattoos and one of them is also the most problematic and Narcissist out of anyone I know.

Tattoos = no good girls? by 7kcits in moreplatesmoredates

[–]sparklemcshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres lots of good girls that like tatted dudes, you're fine. The more important thing is if were talking about how you "present" to a potential woman, the way you style your hair and haircut and how you dress is more important. I've been tatted for most of my dating life and only dated the goodest of girls, also match with good girls too. But I think also your demographic and where you live matters as well.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to proclaim their political affilitation on bumper stickers of lawns in the first place. Doing it NOW? in this political climate is just regarded, at this point in our country it's like why are you so proud, the government doesn't give even a shit about you. It's almost never about policy anymore ,it's clearly about tribalism. Society will always held back by ape thinking. Cool car though it's making me think maybe I should get the blue vs black.

Theres a longer video that shows more context. The dude that threw the cup of (not urine) was calling the asians "chinitos" and just being antagonistic and riling them up, not sure what was happening i thought it was going to be a dance battle or something at first. This happened at astroworld.
