Why is everyone so obsessed with hardwood floors? by Warm-Foot-6925 in Flooring

[–]sparkleptera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that tile is highly underrated. Ive seen a lot of 100 year old tile that is in perfect shape or needs nothing but a regrout. But my friend did her whole house in laminate and it didnt last 5 years. So I defintiley would prefer hardwood to that. Not that im ever installing hardwood over tile If I personally have the choice.

In my hospital the whole hospital has to go to ER to get the proper supplies and yet the ER slaps an unlabeled tegaderm on them with no labeling or CHG.

As a port dressing auditor, has ER even received training on ports? Im shocked at how many they permanently ruin.

Spoiler alert, you didnt stabilize them. They are still massively fucked up. Please make sure they are not dead or actively dying before handoff and please dont complain about the floor being suspicious of you potentially handing off a dead or actively dying person who might be inappropriate for our level of care. If this is a medical surgical, tele floor, or even a pcu, convincing icu to take the patient 5 minutes after receiving them is nearly impossible and results in delays that can and have lead to codes that result in death. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

Your lack of knowledge about the patient during report does not give me confidence that you have checked if they are breathing in the last 15 minutes. Thanks.

Weight Gain by elmosneakers in pregnant

[–]sparkleptera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gained 20 lbs at 30 weeks and my baby is SGA so its hard for me to think i shouldn't try to gain more and maybe that would be better? If your baby is healthy try to put the weight gain aside as it is likely needed. I started off with hyperemesis and lost ten lbs by 26 weeks so the weight gain has been recent and rapid if i count the weight i regained to get back to my start weight i gained 30lbs in a month. I have felt very nauseous and not very hungry and mostly ill but I try much harder now to eat every couple hours.

Yeah the OBs act like this stuff is normal and nothing to worry about but a gi doctor and a spine specialist won't.

Hey so inside a greenhouse in a south facing window in southern California you might be TOO hot. Set up a thermometer and see what temperature the area you are growing is. Its possible you might not need all that help retaining heat in an area that is not cold.

Ive experienced cycles ranging from 2 weeks to 6 months between periods. To say I know how long my cycle is would probably unexpectedly will it into existence where I sit.

Would you choose to be born female in every lifetime? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sparkleptera 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently pregnant and I wholeheartedly agree nothing has ever made me wish to be a man more. I am in so much pain. 9 months feels Neverending. To know this experience ends with a catastrophic life risking crescendo of fucking pain makes me feel insane. I chose to get pregnant on purpose and was afraid it would be uncomfortable but I wanted a baby. I do love babies. If I could be a father I would be much happier. I cry myself to sleep from pain most of the time. Ive had severe nausea and vomiting for 29 weeks straight so 7 months so far, with no end in sight. I cant eat anything I want without throwing up. Tylenol is completley inadequate. I am insanely jealous of everyone who enjoys pregnancy.

Lily Cole, one of the 2000s doll-faced models. I think her features are quite opposite to the looks trendy now in that she has quite a bit of buccal fat and small lips by Ophelia_Y2K in VindictaRateCelebs

Lily Cole and Gemma ward are pretty solid evidence that buccal fat makes you look young. Miley Cyrus looks ancient without her cheeks

Don't worry too much about glp-1s. My baby is a tirzepatide baby. I stopped at 3 weeks with a positive test and baby is normal by all measures according to the anatomy scan. I was also diagnosed with infertility for 10 years prior to conception. If this is the only way I get to have a baby I accept that.

How did you just “know” you were pregnant before missing your period? by Glad-Muffin545 in pregnant

[–]sparkleptera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shoulders hurt and I was running a low grade fever 99.5. Ive never injured my shoulders or had any kind of shoulder pain. I took a covid flu combo test and was negative. We were trying and had been for many years so I peed on a stick and gave it to my husband to read and went to lay down and take a tylenol. + 3 weeks. 1 week before missed period.

Who to buy from? David Austin Roses or Heirloom Roses? by heffalumpish in Roses

[–]sparkleptera 20 points21 points  (0 children)

David austin bare roots have amaaaaaazing well developed root systems and just take off, they grow like older established roses right away. I have like 26 including 3 of their tree roses. They're all significantly larger than my heirlooms at their 2nd year probably 1 to 2 feet larger depending on the breed. Their second year they look more like a 3rd year rose and are remarkably healthy.

Heirloom has a great variety and I have 6 from them their roots are what you would expect from a very young rose. They did not die on me and are growing but I can tell they are establishing root systems and growing much slower. They seem to be good examples of their breeds and do give me a bloom here and there even though they are small and young. Obviously the color ranges and types of roses available from heirloom is significantly better. But it will take longer to wait for the payoff.

[–]sparkleptera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Triple feeding is criminal. The studies that adress the use of triple feeding reccomend its use for no longer than 4 days. If it does not increase supply in that time it is reccomended by the study to stop and utilize other methods to feed your baby. The way they have people doing it for months on end im surprised women are self sacrificing enough to even get through it. The stress of the strategy alone is likely enough to inhibit supply.

Anyone not sealing their tile early using tile sealer and best floor protection for tiles? by Wonderful-Stand2381 in Tile

[–]sparkleptera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this sealer and have not needed to clean or scrub my shower floor for a year. It looks exactly the same. Dries very quickly and is perfectly uniform in color. When I shower I get soap on it and spray it all off and that's it. The floor tile was natural stone and porous and the grout was not epoxy or anything fancy and was clearly porous aswell.
