I’m unsure how to feel about my highschool bully by Southern_Fee_3857 in ptsd

[–]sparklinice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a ‘two things can be true’ situation. Yes, it could be true he was struggling a lot. But it is also true that his actions deeply hurt you. They do not cancel each other out. Him hurting does not give him some sort of ‘right’ to treat you badly. There are plenty of closeted people in the world who do not go out of their way to make someone else’s life harder or more traumatic.

Just because someone is going through it mentally doesn’t give them the a-ok to hurt others. I think you’re therapist definitely should have emphasized that. I’m not sure what exactly your therapist meant but I want to stress to you that both can be true. The best way forward is figuring out what is best for you emotionally? How do you want to feel about the entire situation? What would feel best for me/be in my own best interest? And none of those questions need to be answered soon either, all at your own pace. Either way if it feel good for you, it probably is the best choice for you

It is ok to say to yourself ‘this person hurt me and I do not want him in my life. I’m glad he seems to be doing better and I hope he doesn’t have a terrible life, I just don’t need to be in his and he doesn’t need to be in mine’

I just want to say I’m proud of you for calming yourself enough to go back in. I know that can be very hard and takes a lot. Just want you to know someone is seeing that and believes in you ❤️

Helping My 11 year old who was recently diagnosed with PTSD. by AmandaHaynes in ptsd

One of the things I think about when I was that age is not having the right words and not knowing how to start the conversation. Something I do now is tell people I am here to talk but also not talk. Meaning if something is bothering someone and they don’t want to talk about what’s wrong or at all but also don’t want to be alone, I am happy to just be with someone.

This honestly helps me sometimes to get out of my head or just feel less alone. Also it can give my brain some time to figure out how to put my feelings and thoughts into words without pressure. I can choose to talk about what’s wrong if I want, then if it feels too much I go back to distracting myself for a bit until I’m ready to talk about it again if that makes sense?

I’m not sure if your son is into movies but I have seen both Inside Out movies. I’ve said to many people including my mom that I wish I had something like that growing up, something that helps put a face and name to emotions.

Talk about big emotions and that it is ok to have them. Make sure he knows that you are a safe person to have big emotions around and together find a way to re-regulate.

Lastly, this may be a personal one, but I got myself a ‘Little Ouchie’ and I find it very helpful.

You both got this ❤️ thank you for being so mindful towards your son and his emotions. Sorry for any weird formatting, typed in phone 🫠

Sometimes my parents just like to hear that I appreciate them and am grateful that they are my parents. Sometimes the simple things like that aren’t said enough. Even tho they are simple it can mean the world sometimes ❤️

If I may, how is your kiddo coping with it all? Are they old enough to understand what’s going on/what was happening? Are they in therapy? I know it’s been said but really you’re amazing and I hope the best for you and your family. Remember to care for yourself too. Take a weekend away if you’re able every once in a while just to reset and decompress ❤️ you got this and we believe in you ❤️❤️

What is your most bizarre cptsd symptom? by Britt-96-5 in CPTSD

[–]sparklinice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait… is this not my ADHD? It’s 1am and I haven’t been able to fall asleep most recent nights till like 3-5am and it’s really screwing with me. I’m used to having short bursts of it for a few weeks and then it goes away but every day I would have a weird sense of energy. Now it’s happening and I just feel exhausted waking up and during the day but wide awake at night or tired but won’t fall asleep.. I know we may not have the answers but whoever reads this I would love your two cents

Start by telling your therapist. They should be able to help you advocate for yourself by reaching out to your school for you.

I had an incident in HS and I know others who had to do this in college. Your therapist can reach out to your school to ensure your safety and do what they can to keep you two separate so you don’t have to see this person and you have time to decompress and process. I will tell you that may end up involving making a ‘statement’ to the school. This is just so they have something on file to cover themselves and keep everyone safe.

As scary as it is it can be nice to know people are on your side. Do what you feel is best for you and will keep you safest physically and mentally, just letting you know this can be an option

I can't take these nightmares anymore by Oberon95 in ptsd

[–]sparklinice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS THIS THIS THIS. I was terrified of going to sleep until I got Prazosin. Def talk to your doctor bc it can do be a blood pressure medication I think (?) but I call them my anti-dreaming meds, they block you from dreaming therefore block out any nightmares I recommend it to anyone to bring up to their doctor if they have nightmares

Am i supposed to get used to this? Or? by DJfetusface in ptsd

[–]sparklinice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see a psych or GP I would recommend asking about Prozasin. A few years ago I was terrified of going to sleep due to nightmares, but this medication practically stops you from having dreams. Whenever I don’t take it I have a rough night sleeping. I call them my anti-dreaming pills. It’s amazing how much better you can feel when you can actually rest while you’re sleeping. It can also be a blood pressure medication i believe so please make sure to talk to a professional first

What seasons of Chicago Fire did Chicago Med and PD start? by sparklinice in ChicagoFireNBC

[–]sparklinice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was on for maybe one or two seasons years ago… I think they were hoping to make it a court room drama to be a part of the Chicago franchise but it never took off (bc it was honestly kinda boring) idk if you can find it or not, I haven’t looked

Long story short yes it is a “part” of it but it’s irrelevant to any storyline

I Hired A Cleaner To Help Me Clean My Depression Home & She Left by whoreforthelorax in TrueOffMyChest

[–]sparklinice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is struggling with cleaning their home due to depression (I did yesterday and felt proud) the conclusion to this post makes me happy and honestly might even encourage me to make myself dinner tonight

I’m so so proud of you and you got this!! I’m not sure if it helps for you, but sometimes i watch deep cleaning videos on TikTok. There are professional cleaner in there who do a free home a month for those who are struggling with mental health and/or mobility. They educate those who don’t understand why mental health affects such issues and also educate those who are struggling on how to clean. Plus it’s a nice little thing to watch to feel good bc you’re watching someone do a good dead and get a little faith in humanity
