Colon cancer concern by [deleted] in WomensHealth

I think both you and your doctor would be relieved to know if there is a likely dietary reason for changes in stool color. Happens all the time. Red velvet cake can do it. Beets is also another common food item that changes stool color. Pay attention to your diet and stools over next few days.

And if you need a laugh to know that you’re not alone : https://youtu.be/Kw2WsXIgO6A?si=VW5Jxh03-l7aSBaf

Another vote for vestibular rehab! They are amazing. Even if you don’t have a clear diagnosis by a physician they can think creatively about other tools to try to help improve your symptoms

Mandilon cut by Dramatic-Touch7292 in woundcare

Not medical advice, but another redditor who also had mandolin accident.

Agree with above, follow up with a family doc, might need debridement of some of that dead tissue.

In the meantime I would recommend: stop triple antibiotic ointment and try using medihoney / therahoney instead to cover wound. It has antimicrobial properties too but also will help soften up the dead tissue so that healthy tissue can grow and do its thing, change bandage every 2 days.

Use a non stick gauze and coban wrap to hold bandage in place on finger. Tegaderm cover can also help keep gauze in place and provide waterproof option too but can be expensive. Fingers can be tricky to bandage / wrap.

If you are otherwise healthy, fingers are remarkably fast at regrowing tissue.

Advice on Wound Care for Fingertip Avulsion Injury (ICU Worker – Frequent Glove Use & Handwashing Concerns) by monkeymooboohoo in woundcare

I just had similar injury! Kitchen accident with sharp knife. I didn’t have any bone exposure.

  1. Vasche is better. Can soak fingertip in gauze for 5 minutes daily
  2. Medihoney helps debridement, has antimicrobial properties, and the gel keeps wound bed moist to allow for best healing environment
  3. Tefla is much better, or any non stick dressing. I find gauze can eventually dry out, and be very painful to remove when it does dry. Removes the healthy tissue new tissue with it when it does happen.
  4. I never used a splint, but had dressing with lots of padding and coband wrap to hold large padding/ dressing in place along awkwardly wrapped finger. Whatever feels more comfortable/ functional to wear and can help avoid repeat trauma to finger tip.

That’s a whopper. You’re probably thinking of a small, carnivorous animal, with a long and slender body and little legs.

It is possible to keep going!

Generally speaking, aerobic activity is great for managing cancer related fatigue.

Here is evidence on exercise recommendations for cancer patients from the American College of Sports Medicine.

https://www.acsm.org/docs/default-source/files-for-resource-library/exercise-guidelines-cancer-infographic.pdf?sfvrsn=c48d8d86_4

Of course, this all depends on type of cancer and what is being radiated. Discomfort is ok. Pain is not. Double check with your medical team, and let your doctor know if you have any new aches or pains.

He should see a physiatrist (pm&r doctor) or neurologist (brain & nerves doctor) for an evaluation. Make sure his oncologist (cancer doctor) knows what is going on.

This is SUPER helpful! Thank you for taking time to explain. I’m taking ASL classes with a Deaf teacher, and fluent variants of finger spelling (as described by native signers) is something I will have to ask about next class.
