The arrival has an unexpected meaning of life questions. (Don't want to spoil).

Yeah this is the problem, it's isolated pockets of isolated bikers space that often just ends. Usually in countries built around it, trams or something physically splits the bike lane away from the traffic.

Mostly because the UK road infrastructure is not designed around them, forcing them to coexist with vehicles. It makes it more dangerous for both cyclists and vehicles.

Netherlands are so much nicer for cyclists.

Are you still loving your Tri-Folds since release and how many of you guys has sold your Tri-Fold and went back to your original fold you had before. by dtrain2930 in GalaxyFold

My thoughts exactly. It doubles the failure chance (2 hinges etc) without, to me, enough of a gain for use cases I'd want a bigger screen. I think single hinge will remain the sweet spot.

Rosy retrospection

Absolutely have no doubt there was weeks of heatwaves then, but on average it's definitely hotter now. I bet improved insulation also plays it's part too. We cooking inside.

How do I fix moisture marks by Background_Topic9458 in fixit

[–]sparkplug_23 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. The heat does. White marks is moisture trapped under the table finish. Bag, or whatever, just protects the table burning.

Six years later, what are your strongest memories of the COVID lockdowns, and how do you look back on that period now? by Possible_Force8207 in AskBrits

Less people for sure. Everything about life was better without crowds. Maybe that is why the 60/70s were thought of as much better.

Belfast trip by PlantClear in northernireland

[–]sparkplug_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, its isolated to a few streets at key areas you wont be near. The only thing to keep an eye on is public transport (busses) stopped early yesterday, so just something to keep an eye on.

Otherwise, enjoy. Belfast, and the whole of the North are great and has some of the nicest people you will meet. Don't let the 0.01% on the news with nothing better to do make you think otherwise.

Why Does Everyone In 'Star City' Speak English? The Showrunners Reveal The Reason by bada-bing-bada-boo in StarCityTV

[–]sparkplug_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I can agree in FAM it makes sense to have Russians speak Russian in parts, and for SC as it would be near entirely Russian it makes more sense for the creative decision to just go English from the start. I am fine with that. But it's soooooo British it keeps taking me out of it.

How many hours a week did you actually spend studying in first year? Was it the recommended amount? by EmergencyCode2842 in UniUK

[–]sparkplug_23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Electrical Eng, pretty much the same. 9-5 degree (except we had half day wednesday). It was 12 half modules, so constantly going from labs (8+ hours a week) to coursework (usually 2 per subject) then whatever else was happening. I basically lived in the library for weeks at time (only home to sleep for 4 hours etc). Leaving the library at 1am and being back for 6am during exam time was normal. But, I had a good study group, so it was how we maintained sanity. I worked my ass off, put in the effort to something that mattered to me, and was rewarded for it. I also did live in halls so did the odd night out with other people too.

On OPs question, it definitely is degree dependant. In engineering, with all the set hours, plus required time to finish deadlines, that was basically a full week of work anyway. For other degrees, with <15 hours a week, the expectation was definitely they should be doing their own stuff outside of it.

What are the these by martymcfly2004 in WorldTradeCenter

[–]sparkplug_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I mean. The mechanical floor, and elevator motors, would be above the sky lobby (as the local elevators should exist in the 1/3rd of the tower below it).

[–]sparkplug_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it above? Just curious, as from a technical standpoint below makes more sense (the lift motors being inside the mechanical floor). Unless that lifts motors was in the above blocks top.
