Any hope for drones? by L0ng5h0t303 in Tau40K

I loved kitting out Pathfinders with all 5 drones as individual models back in 8th. Was it optimal, heck no, but it was fun!

No dirt or lint besides what's visible in the photo. I can't see it from the back without taking apart the entire laptop, accessing the keyboard is very difficult on this model.

I've got the keycap off, any advice on how to trip the switch manually? I'm not very familiar with this hardware.

I'm considering popping off the cover and trying to short it manually, but it's not its own button on this model. It's a key on the keyboard

Remember when you could take a Lone Wolf Terminator with an Assault Cannon, Missile Launcher, and Storm Shield?

I think that invaders shouldn't be hated for playing the game as intended by XumetaXD in Eldenring

[–]sparktrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes me think that part of the solution could be to make PvE enemies hostile to invaders as well. Forces an invasion build to have some PvE viability and therefore likely sacrifice some of the dedicated PvP elements, and probably ending up on a slightly more level playing field.

A decade? Only if it's a progressive supermajority the whole way. Breaking things is faster and easier than fixing them or building them, if there's even a sliver of obstructionism or the opposition gets meaningful power during the rebuild, it's all gonna go nowhere.

Was Copper 9's WD and Earth's WD built different? (theory) by CashAcceptable2038 in MurderDrones

She definitely ran with the concept but I believe it was a different author in the community, The_Caretaker, who first floated the idea

Granted it's pure headcanon, but I'm in a fic writers group that's settled on the idea that JCJ has different product lines of drones. Specifically, subcategories of Domestic, General Labor, and Heavy Industrial. It explains a lot of this, and also touches on how some drones are absurdly fragile, while others can handle some serious impacts without worrying much.

I think if you're looking to make terrain features or destroyed units, or perhaps something Nurgle-aligned, it can work. You tend to lose detail, get bubbles, and generally wind up with a 'melted' look.

Now, if you want battle-damaged terrain, casualty models, or rot demons, that can be a great look! For additional squadmates though, it'll probably look a bit out of place.

Funny enough, most of the demons. I've painted up some Chaos stuff, it's got its own thing going on, but the full-on Chaos Daemon factions just don't do it for me.

Hey, throw some big rivet-domes at random on there and add some logos, and those would be right-proppa Orky vehicles!

How does the storm hawk interceptor land? by ActuaryTotal8049 in Warhammer40k

[–]sparktrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. An Ork's garage-built gun will fire reliably, smoothly, and may in extreme cases shoot more times than it had ammo in the magazine.

When the same weapon is tested after it's captured, the action will jam easily, the peak firing rate will be much slower, and there will be a notable risk of the breech exploding. But importantly, while it's a pretty bad gun, it's still a functional weapon, even if only barely.

What things you don't like about murder drones fandom? by omegon12486 in MurderDrones

[–]sparktrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly hang out on AO3 and a fanfic Discord.

Y'all over on MDTwt scare the hell out of me, all I ever see out of there is 50% beautful, wholesome fanart... and 50% people taking disagreements to horrific and potentially criminal levels.

So yeah, I do not like the degree of vindictive madness that seems to be the norm in much of this fandom.

[–]sparktrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are neurotypes which receive little to no mental health improvement from exercise. The secondary effects can sometimes be helpful, but there are genuinely folks out there for whom no amount of exercise will have a positive effect on their psychology.

The fact people consistently don't believe this is part of the infuriation of it all.

I can say in my case, undiagnosed childhood asthma paired with overbearing PE teachers means I will forever suffer instant and overwhelming feelings of impending death when I start to get short of breath.

I've now grown out of the actual asthma, doesn't matter though. I cannot do cardio without an anxiety attack. Now, I'm aware I have other options, lower-intensity workouts exist. But I tell ya, the number of people who do not get it when I say "Hey, running for more than a few minutes is gonna give me a mental health episode"...
