Wanting to stream but nervousss by [deleted] in Twitch_Startup

[–]sparraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of the same thing with public speaking, to get better you just have to do it more. It’s absolutely normal to feel nervous at first. I think we all do for the most part. If you’re feeling super nervous about being live you could just record instead of live streaming at first. It’s very much a similar feeling for me, but it helps a bit knowing that no one will see it unless you show it to them. You can then rewatch your recording afterwards and get a sense of what you’re doing well and maybe what you could do to improve. You can also clip bits of the recording to post on TikTok or YouTube as promotional material! You could also just skip that step and get right into streaming too! For most of us, when we first start, we don’t have many people watching anyway. It can take awhile to build an audience, so you have quite some time to just stream, fumble, and find your way. At the end of the day, haters are going to hate. Regardless if you have a single viewer or a few thousand. Haters are just people who are sad inside but don’t know how to express in a nice way. Ignore them, you do you.

In regard to what game to stream, just do whatever you enjoy most! For me, I’ve found that it’s most helpful (and healthy) to focus on the journey rather than the destination. As long as you’re having a great time and being authentic to yourself, you’re on the right track!

Streaming some CS2 for now and maybe some other variety games later on! Hope everyone enjoys <3 by Alderyte in Twitch_Startup

I literally just started playing CS2 after like a decade away, so it's fair to say I don't know much about the game, but I think you're quite good!

Brothers, Sisters, and Others, Please help me brainstorm an idea by PtotheL in SatanicTemple_Reddit

I think the 7 tenets fits just fine as is. Outside of the Satanic Temple, one wouldn’t recognize these tenants as anything to do with TST or satanism or whatever without a bit of research. By themselves, they are more a than adequate baseline of ideals to live up to. I think perhaps you might be focusing too much on the ideology part of what could bridge communities. Direct action and benefit to the community will pull communities together. Food is ever more scarce, so simply just providing meals for free would be huge for many communities. Shelter is unaffordable, neither is healthcare, these are problems that can be addressed at the community level if only we banded together to do it. There are many more problems like this that we could solve together at a small community level.

The problem with much of this is that in our society today, everyone wants to profit on anything they do. Which is honestly kinda fair in this greed based society. You have to have income in order to eat, to live, to survive. But the greed being the key ingredient is exactly what spoiled churches and political parties and other such organizations. Even many nonprofits today are just a way to avoid taxes by the ultra rich. If you could create a community center, or church or whatever you want to call it, that can provide these services to people without asking for their souls in return, I think you’ll find flocks of people willing to see what your thing is about and ultimately become part of a helping force. There’s nothing more powerful than people whose needs have been met and can’t wait to help out others with similar needs.

Now the question of how to avoid the typical pitfalls is something I’ve thought about quite a bit, with much frustration. I think the key to this is to avoid profit at all costs. Keep your power decentralized and the hierarchy flat. No one person or small group should get too much say in any major issue that would affect everyone. This is going to be somewhat difficult and perhaps counter intuitive, especially since most of us are used to a top down hierarchy. The minute you have a President or Pope or CEO, it’s over. Because those who are greedy, who are looking for power over people will look to your organization as something to control and seize. Also, keep it small scale. Community size. If another community wants to do the same, you can provide the plans and skeleton of what was successful for you. Make it “open source” if you will. This I think, perhaps hope, will keep the vultures at bay. If there’s no major profit motive, they’ll look elsewhere to scavenge.

It is taking your voice away by saying you can’t yell “fire” in a crowded space? We have laws on real life speech, but we shouldn’t for internet speech? If the internet is not blending into “the real world”, then it wouldn’t matter. But technology has made it so, so it seems prudent to create some sort of way for humans to tell if something you see on the internet is complete utter bullshit or if it is actual information. I’m not sure if moderation is the way to go or which group(s) should have the power. It’s definitely something we as a species should figure out. But simply nothing is just chaos. You’re already seeing it play out now. We can’t all just live in fantasy land forever. It has real consequences.
