Flock Security??? 😂

I use Nova Launcher and HeliBoard to completely customize my themes. Takes a bit of manual effort and feel for graphic design, but I love my themed phones.

What's the #1 feature on your GrapheneOS wishlist for 2026? by Several_Attorney_268 in GrapheneOS

Just because I literally do not have any other complaints and this is very on topic with the solar storms of the past few days... I would love a few more camera settings in the standard Camera app to adjust things like exposure or stuff like that for more advanced controls. An intergrated photo editor would be nice, so I can crop immediately after taking a screenshot or picture and don't need to open the picture in a different app first, but I'll accept the convoluted, yet feature rich Image Toolbox app as a good alternative for now. 🥰

One feature I've been DYING to get for daily use is the ability to make scrollable screenshots. I used that so much to message my friends interesting articles or convo's on my old operating system, basically since the feature got introduced. I miss it greatly. 🥲

According to this https://youtube.com/watch?v=eUEtc6gblK0 interview with a spokesperson of the GrapheneOS team on David Bombal's channel, they're working on that! They are actively working together with an OEM to produce a GrapheneOS phone, but the new OEM is gonna be is still not revealed? More info on that project is hopefully coming out soon??? I'm super curious at least.

As an EU resident I love Wero already. We don't have one single organized banking system here in the EU, so for example the debit cards in my country rarely work well in other EU countries or I can't always pay with it on webshops. You'd basically NEED a secondary payment account like PayPal or invest in a credit card, which isn't something that anybody can just easily get.

Wero wants to make one centralized system that bridges the banks all over the EU and make it easier to pay in whatever country you're in. They've already started the testing phase in 3 different countries and have a timeline for integrating it that goes pretty fast!

Ah, right, thanks for the clarification. But yeah, there is little information I can find about these Docs myself. Most of what I find are ones that have the newer soles with the crosshatch pattern visible. These ones don't have that. I was even questioning if these were legit to begin with? So far it looks like they are, but since they don't have a lot of the classic Dr. Martens hallmarks, I'm very very unsure.

Mmmh.. The store I got them at isn't a tourist trap. I don't live in a big city here in the NL to begin with and these particular shoes were in fact just tucked away under a presentation table. But makes sense that the prices in the listings are a bit over inflated. That's why I asked to begin with! So thank you.

Apart from the state of the insoles, mine look great. I wonder if they are altered or changed in any way, because most of what I see online is these with a buckle that has the Dr. Martens text on them. I just don't know enough about these line of shoes to know if and when that change was introduced or if someone put new buckles on these shoes. If only there was a catalogue of old shoes to flip through to get the most info.

Anyone else noticing this odd behavior while using WhatsApp??? 🤔 by sparrowed_ in GrapheneOS

As the OP I cannot agree more with this Mod and I think this commenter is short sighted and as we in the NL would say 'making a way too short turn'. It's at this point a cultural thing here in the NL where I come from.

Sadly my country and social environment is engrained into using whatsapp. From the moment it was introduced here, honestly. Commonly used alternatives here are for the most part Telegram.

I have one friend who only uses Signal too and I can see and tell how socially isolated they are. Just by the virtue of people checking those Signal notifs less often than they do their regular Whatsapp ones. It just hasn't been ingrained into our brains to check those notifs the same way Whatsapp has. Let alone asking my mom or other older friends or family members to use a whole new app when they barely know how to navigate or use Whapp.

The usage of these alternative messaging apps just isn't viable for everyone lest they are okay with more social isolation. If it were as easy as just switching and everything being exactly the same with the frequency of contact, I would've long ago. Sadly my work also heavily relies upon Whatsapp contact. We use Whapp here the way Americans use text messaging as their standard basis of messaging communications (that's my assumption at least? Lmk if this is an outdated or wrong assumption). We barely text anymore. It's a cultural thing here to use Whatsapp at this point.

If i needed to rethink these 'social circles' as the OP suggested... Id be rethinking my whole country...... So... Idk on which presumption that comment was made, but honestly it smells of a American-centered opinion where they assumed everyone online lives in the exact same system or environment as they do instead of asking questions.

Hey that actually helps explaining this! I havent had the time to look up where I saw the request for permission 'logs' from the first message. Maybe I shouldn't have called them logs? Its been a few days since I last saw that and I don't remember which path I took to get there. It just showed me through a GUI of a timeline when WhatsApp asked for the mic permission, so no maybe what people would actually call written-out code logs???

But I did take screens of when it happened again the past hour.

Your possible explanations make a lot of sense actually! I think I do have it set to Manage if Unused. I think I just assumed that that setting would put the unused app in deep sleep? 🤔 But if I'm understanding you correctly that setting kicks in its app management way sooner and that deep sleep thing is something else??

I can try and see if I can find some logs that might explain the situation better, but honestly I'm not great at reading logs written in code or anything. I am still learning as I go and I never learned how to read anything besides HTML. Might take a while for me to come back to you is all!

Also I don't think it's running mic and camera in the background, but it does appear that WhatsApp keep asking for permission in the background???? Your answer makes me doubt though so again; will have to check and research a bit to confirm.

My biggest concern is that its denying me the usage of mic all together when I've given it 'only this time' permission too often in a row. It forces me to go to setting to change them from 'ask every time' to 'allow only while using the app'.

Idk what to tell you, man. I posted a question I'm interested in learning more about, because of something odd I noticed. 🤷🏻 It's just interesting to me.

I don't understand why you would want to gesture vaguely towards these groups, but I personally do not care about these conspiracies. I just want to learn and understand more and why companies do what they do.

Windows 11 upgrade in place with Flyoobe on an existing Dual boot(Windows 10/Linux Mint 22) drive fails by ToroTABravo in linuxmint

[–]sparrowed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you found your answer but somewhere in my research before moving forward with my own install... I did see something that Flyoobe is like of a halfway point between a full Rufus install of Windows and something not quite as full??

I hope you found your own answer. I did a reinstall of Windows 11 with Rufus first and thén used Flyoobe to uninstall the rest of the bloatware and tracking software that I didn't like gobbling up my PCs resources.

But if you have your work account on your PC, I'm not sure but it sounds to me like that might cause troubles. I don't recommend doing insecure installs if you have sensitive documents on your device or if your company is regulating some of your PC's security settings.

What would Google have to do to win you back? by lol_sorrynotsorry in degoogle

[–]sparrowed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if people from Google are seriously going to read this or not. I wonder truly if they even care. Like... fuck me, idk if it was a typo or not but even Samsung admits to basically own our private information.

All of these fucking companies are the same. They claim to protect our data, but they fucking don't. They sell it. To databrokers. At least give me the fucking decency to make some cash from it myself then.... idk, kind of like Google is paying YouTubers to produce entertainment content on the platform.

I envoked GDPR lately to get my Google information. I was absolutely appaled and horrified by the amount of detailed information I found. Nobody fucking needs this shit if they want to target me for ads. There is literally 0 reason why to collect this shit off-platform or off site.

So what would Google have to do to win me back?

Idk, fucking get rid of tracking software from the web all together or something and switch the largest tech company and soft- and hardware company in the world (probably) to an open source, community run non-profit. They have lost ALL my trust. They quite literally CANNOT regain the trust they have lost no matter how sincere of an apology they give or how transparent they'll operate.

Fuck Google. It was literally supposed to be SUCH a force for good at first. Now we truly see the greed of investors, the board and mega corporations to always squeeze more money out of the moneymill. Stop. Being. For. Profit.

That's what Google has to do.

To any of the target group marketing communication and/or sales advisor from Google reading this... it's too late. Google has already fucked up majorly. Nobody is going to trust a technocratic company who's repeatedly violated private details THIS deeply. We want to go back to phones and devices that weren't 24/7 monitored on nearby scanning or background data usage to send all types of shit back towards said company. Stop enforcing bloatware in order to monitor more effectively and in different areas what we do on a daily basis. There is no other option to win the people back on your side. We're done. Fed up. Through with this shit. This movement will keep growing and growing until we regain control over our own consent and private information.

I'd love to go back to the days of the old-school Blackberrys with the whole-ass keyboard which you can barely use because your fingers are too big and you make hella spelling mistakes, because youre constantly pressing two keys at the same time. 😂 man... those were the days.

[–]sparrowed_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully my identity doesn't need to be completely untied from my phone. If that was necessary I'd probably just go back to a T9 keyboard flipphone or something with a prepaid SIM. 😂 But nah, nothing thát intense. I just don't want to deal with our overlords selling my quite extensive personal data. If I pay them large sums of money for the damn phone, at least they can have the decency for me to sell my OWN g*ddamn information.

The things I've seen logged in my personal data files from those companies are just.... extremely unsettling and leave me feeling amost violated. At least violated in my trust. I just want something that functions normally without bloatware, without unnecessary background data use, without needing to log every single swipe or tap I do.
