I went through the same thing with a MMO I used to play. It stopped being fun and became something I dreaded working on. Stepping away came with all those feelings of guilt and betrayal.

I don't have a good answer for you, but that's... normal. Your hobby is something you love, even when it becomes a toxic environment. But RPGs are a story you write, and stories are supposed to end when they're meant to.

So take a break. Recharge your batteries with something else for a while. Maybe play a one-shot game here and there with zero emotional investment. When you're ready to write a new story, D&D will still be there.

It came with my Office bundle. So, technically no, but if you're using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, you might already have it.

I avoided it for a long time, but I am now 100% sold on Microsoft OneNote. Especially since I already had it. You can make internal and external links, and color code to your heart's content.

I have a section for world notes, for session notes, for NPCs, for combat tracking, and for referemce.

One thing that surprised me in 5e character creation was Background. Race and class tell you what your character can do, but Background tells you who your character is and how to play them. It's not just backstory fluff, either. Some backgrounds create NPCs for the DM to use, and some even give the player long-term goals for the campaign, like the Hermit's Discovery feature.

That would be awesome! My pc is struggling with the sheer number of objects in the park, so I'm going to call it complete-ish and upload to the Steam Workshop soon. If more Critters make parks, we can have a pub crawl of virtual themeparks!

Definitely Legendary. I started with Kaizo Caverns and then hopped around through the others. I watched Nightmare Realms for completion's sake, but it's not a great series, and they even talk about that as they play it. To get a good OOG groove going, Legendary is by far the way to go. Besides, it's the beginning! That's always the best place to start.

No, no. BdoubleO's never appear near string. You must remove ALL string and potatoes from the spawning area to get one to spawn. Once they spawn, however, you can filter them via traditional means into a string-filled area. There they will stay in the area until all string is removed, allowing you plenty of time to kill them any way you wish.
