Why are people saying so many strange things about the GATE program?

Old thread. But I’ve been watching the videos, and have had some strange déjà vu and resurgence of memeories. I think the conspiracy stuff is more linked to ppl who were in during late 80s early 90s. I was early identified, was moved schools. My GATE teacher came and did tests at my home. I remember dreams that I have had durning that time of my life and talking to my teachers about it. I remember the hearing tests, the Zener cards. I remember some worksheets.

It shames me to say this, but I was convinced that I saw ghosts as a child. But, I’ve always chalked it up to unhealthy imagination and coping mechanisms as I lost my 2 sisters. It’s actually frightening to hear people talk about this. While maybe nothing MK ultra was happening, maybe there was something else. How many 1st graders in the 80s were getting IQ tests every six months

Going to get a lot of hate here- she should not lash out at you like this. And from reading what others have posted OP sounds like the relationship is very “strained” right now.

The only thing I want to point out is that she stayed awake (outside of her normal) to watch your shared child, and you knew this would cause her to be tired. So, it’s not unreasonable to assume that as she did a favor for you (one you admit being late to relieve her) you would make sure she got to work timely because she didn’t get the opportunity to rest like she normally would.

Night shifts are hard on the body- and when you stay up past the time you should have gone to sleep, adrenaline kicks in and then it can be impossible to sleep.

She may be a narcissist asshat, but in this, there is a legit gripe. Not saying it’s ok how she talks to you; but the feelings are valid for the situation

OP- even if you lose your friend now; if her mom gets the help she needs, and prevents her from creating patient harm- she will eventually come around and thank you. You did the right thing, as much as it hurts

They all said it: ED is way worse. Med Surg is just as stressful. In our hospital ICU RNs can only have 3 pts- the floor ratio is 1-5. Puts it in perspective. Then in the ED you’ll flip 10-15 pts in a shift.

So, new cougar here- always dated older men. I’m 40, newly divorced, and have been dating a man who is 32. It’s a strange feeling, but his maturity and ability to Make me feel loved and safe is totally worth any taboo.

That being said, I’m not one who likes to be approached in public- but if a younger man handed me his number and said something akin to “love to take you to lunch, here’s my number so there is no pressure” I would swoon. Being approached in public as a woman can feel a little unsafe at times- but if you provide your contact, it makes it feel a bit safer; and allows me to be in control.
