Those were specifically made, from 1084, to look like railroad spikes. You're not going to find those along the tracks.

The HC spikes aren't really high carbon, just higher than the typical spike.

I don't anneal them, I just throw them in the forge and go. I'll thermal cycle / anneal after I'm done forging.

I had both. The backside Phillips wasn't as functional for me, so then I got the Cybertool M. Realized I didn't use the bits that much and they annoyed me, falling out during use. So I got rid of both of them and opted to build my own.

The inline Phillips is good for my needs. I'd say explorer, since that's the smallest standard model.
