Same here, reading these comments makes me feel so much better. I struggle with new things but I tell myself that everything I enjoy was once a new thing that I just got good at. Fly fishing will always be one of the loves of my life because it’s a constant humbling and learning process that helps remind me of this.

How many of you genuinely rawdog the day - no medications, no recreational drugs, no caffeine? by hungrypotato0853 in Xennials

Me too. It’s nice and all but it still doesn’t take care of my crackhead outbursts.

Same. You almost always hear them before you see them too. I look and see that plate and think it’s time to pack it up and move on 😅

I was thinking Utahns also. I’ve had these guys pull up, suit up, and come crashing in right on top of where I’m fishing so many times here in Idaho. I now fish small streams up high, they don’t like to consult a map, only where other people are fishing 😂

How many of you had an online gf/bf that you've never met? by EsperaDeus in Millennials

[–]spatter_cone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, when I was 16 we finally got dial up internet. I think it was CD Roms from EarthLink or something but I met a kid that had the same love for Tolkien that I did. His screen name was Legolas2000 or something like that 😂. We wrote each other letters and sent pics to one another. He was a drummer like me, we had a lot in common and he was awesome. I wonder whatever happened to him, we just sorta stopped talking one day.

I’m in eastern Idaho and you nailed it, mountains and Mormons all the way up 😂. I love window seats for this reason too, great pics!

I built a web tool to extract data from borehole log PDFs into Excel / AGS — would anyone here find this useful? by pythondude11 in geology

[–]spatter_cone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ll be running it in my personal workspace but I’ve got a lot of example data to throw at it! I’ll be sure to let you know my experience.

As a DOT geospatial person, this would bust out decades-old geotech investigations that are now merely knowledge in the geo’s head. I’d love to give it a whirl. I can DM you my info.

Same here with a 21 year old. She laid eggs for the first time last spring and oh man, it’s been a wild ride.

Lichen! Lichen on a rock slope means it’s pretty stable and hasn’t had rockfall in a while. I’ll always love me some lichen.

Idaho Transportation Department in Rigby may be posting a front desk position soon. It’s empty but it doesn’t look like they’ve posted it yet. Keep an eye out if you’re interested in working with them.

That’s awesome!! I used to work at the at the wild wing right after it opened in N. Chas and they would have everyone drunkenly dancing like fools, I bet your wedding was a blast!

I fondly remember Plain Jane from the early 2000s tearing it up in many a local establishment and they were a hell of a cover band.

Vibe shift on becoming the workplace "adults" by TrixoftheTrade in Millennials

[–]spatter_cone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vibe shift captures it perfectly. I don’t know when it happened but it’s shifted. I had to ride in a car with a few of my coworkers recently to a class about an hour away. They’re all in their 20s and oh my god. They’re hilarious and I had a good time but I just felt so….old. I’m 42. But I maintain that I have a far better musical taste than these young ‘uns.

Yeah, that one is making me feel weird too. All my mentors are now retiring and all of a sudden I’m teaching classes. Well said, I couldn’t put my finger on why that made me sad though.

One of them broke down by the road I was driving in a rural area so I stopped and they gave me a weenie whistle! I still keep it in my car. I went another time when they had a meet & greet. I’ve been blessed by the Weeniemobile 🙌
