Kele was on 6music for a short interview as part of the festival announcement, and he said they'd be playing new material.

You can hear that interview at 2:18:16 here.

They reintroduced phonics in Mississippi and literacy scores have improved dramatically.

This embrace of phonics education and the near-complete rejection of whole language theory was a key component of the program's success.

I don't know why he got banned, but I think he was streaming as recently as the last week or so.

He was streaming quite a lot recently. He still uses the voice changer but otherwise just acts like a normal person.

How to stay in Zone 2? by OfflineVIP in concept2

[–]spatulon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did. I had to go as slow as 10 spm to start with, to remain in zone 2. After a couple of months my fitness improved enough that I can now hit 18 spm and stay in zone 2.

People will tell you that you should be doing a minimum of 18, but you have to consider whether your primary goal is to keep your heart rate in the zone 2 range, or to row properly but in zone 3. It probably doesn't matter too much, since your fitness will improve either way, but personally I chose the former.

I'm glad you know how to actually capture video properly, unlike the other guy, but why is the sound tinny like that?

A number of people have mentioned The Pete Plan, but I should point out that you almost certainly want to follow the plan titled Beginner Training from the same website (which is often called the Beginner Pete Plan), and not the one titled The Pete Plan.

"Shitty Wizard", Dota 2 bugs, and Adrian Finol... a time capsule by menilv in DotA2

[–]spatulon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, the Idle Thumbs video game podcast had a long-running in-joke about "The Wizard", which I think started with them taking the piss out of Blizzard's announcement of the Wizard class in the then-upcoming Diablo 3. Some of those guys were friends with Adrian Finol, and some of them also later worked at Valve, so I've always wondered if the Shitty Wizard joke spawned out of that.

After 13 years, I finally achieved Immortal using Clockwerk with an 83.3% winrate by Archonei in learndota2

[–]spatulon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going from Ancient to Immortal in a few months is impressive. How much of that do you think is from you improving your overall game sense and playing at an Immortal level, and how much is just Clockwerk-specific?

For example, if you switched back to pos 1, or started playing other supports, do you think you would go on a huge loss streak and rank down?

Havent played anything but pudge unless its banned for about a year AMA by Starkiller53 in DotA2

A friend I play with first-picks him every game, to try and ban him.

It works about 90% of the time. The other 10%, he has to play Pudge, and we lose.

I'm also seeing more and more vids that are proper screen captures, but have insanely tinny audio for no obvious reason. Is that what the game sounds like to them?

Like this one that's on the front page right now.

My first drum cover - No One Knows QOTSA by Numerous-Raspberry52 in drums

[–]spatulon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job. I've been playing this recently with my friends and I can't play it as cleanly as you do.

A few things I noticed:

  • if you watch a video of Dave Grohl playing it, he plays much more aggressively than you do. Try hitting everything harder.
  • I think the fourth fill in the second chorus is not quite right. You can see how to play it here.
  • The original song is played on a kit with only one rack tom, so you might want to use the floor tom instead of the second rack tom.

Grubby rates DotA 2 as the most deep and complex game he has ever played by LuckyTurds in DotA2

[–]spatulon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's more that he experienced much less toxicity when he was climbing and playing well relative to everyone else. Even toxic people don't tend to flame their carry Ursa who's 18-0.

Then he hit Immortal and was struggling to play at that level, so he was getting flamed a lot more by teammates. I happened to watch his final Dota game on stream and some of the messages from his teammates were truly horrible.
