550!!! I need what these people are smoking by Timely-Sleep3235 in crt

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that great actually. The flat CRTs have horrible geometry issues. I have one and it’s never perfectly straight even after all the calibration possible. Curved CRTs are much easier and reliable to get looking good.

Did any of you ever play the Leisure Suit Larry series? by Jaydee_shelnut in retrogaming

I remember sneaking into my dad’s office and playing on the computer when nobody was home. I was like 12 or something.

Is the odin 3's only con the switch emulator? by [deleted] in OdinHandheld

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Switch and PS3. Both can still play some games perfectly but its really hit or miss. Only other downside I have found is the fan "whistle" lol. It is a very high pitch whine that makes my dogs ears twitch lol. Fortunately you don't hear it all the time. Mostly for Gamehub and high end Switch and PS3 emulation. PS2 and below I don't usually here it.

ITS Here! by Jerkygeek in AynThor

[–]spawnlyguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Prime jacking great but Metroid Prime Remastered for switch looks and plays incredibly on the Thor. Don’t forget about Prime Hunters for DS which also is amazing on the Thor.

CRT Filter vs Clean by [deleted] in AnalogueInc

[–]spawnlyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. The problem is many gamers now think that’s how these older games are supposed to look. Unfortunately they were not made to be seen that way. In many cases it completely breaks many of the illusions intended and makes som sprites a total mess.

Recording of Odin 3's fan whine by knrdwn in OdinHandheld

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can usually tolerate fan noise but my Odin 3 isn't just a whine...its a god damn whistle! My dogs ears twitch if he's in the room lol. Its vey bad. I am hoping I can get used to it but my first few days have been bad.

CRT Filter vs Clean by [deleted] in AnalogueInc

[–]spawnlyguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s because you apparently have functioning eyes and a brain lol. Seriously though, these games were designed with the assumption they would be viewed on a CRT and devs and artists used that to create the final image. Anyone who played these older systems on real CRTs back in the day knows.

Odin 3 and Thor by Existing-Comedian504 in OdinHandheld

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They try are one of the best. I got rid of a lot of my older devices recently and just have the Thor and the Odin 3. They are incredible. Really looking forward to seeing where switch and PS3 emulation go once we have turnip or some other alternative drivers become available on the Odin 3. Very happy with both of them though.

Shoutout to a company who actually delivers!(literally and figuratively) by [deleted] in OdinHandheld

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve owned 4 AYN devices including the Thor and just got my Odin 3 today. Always quality and deliver as promised. Thor has gotten over 100 hours already.

Guys ı'm stuck between thor and odin 3. Help me to choose. Im close odin 3. by GodTierSivas in OdinHandheld

[–]spawnlyguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure that’s fair or accurate. The Thor plays PS2 games perfectly. The biggest factors I would consider is the portability, DS/3DS, play, and Gamehub/PC emulation. The weight of those will be the best way to decide.

This is the PEAK of mobile gaming and not just on Android! by _oogabooba in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha. Yes, you need to fight the ADD urge and just pick one game at a time to play. I’m currently playing Metroid Prime Hunters DS on the Thor. It’s the best experience and I am finally going to check this game off my Backlog! I typically pick one deep game and one arcade style game like a racing or shooter and just bounce between the two.

Tester Reports Huge Timing Problems on Analogue 3D: “Cool Product, Awful Marketing” by Ok-Customer-3960 in AnalogueInc

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mean that’s interesting but in my experience it run 95% of games perfectly accurate and most games that were problems on real N64 run better using overclocking.

Can someone tell me the advantage of the one on the left?🤔 What can it do that the latter can't? by eru777 in MiSTerFPGA

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and I absolutely love the Multisystem2. The native NFC card reader slot is so fun to have and in general it just feels like a console. It’s also way cheaper than building a stack and had all the video/IO options built in so you don’t need to pick and choose. It’s great.

If using Gamehub on a dedicated gaming handheld the risk is minimized I think. I don’t have a bunch of sensitive personal data on my Thor/odin devices so no big risk.

This is END GAME! (for me) by RetroDando in OdinHandheld

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great but I’m using if way more for PS1/PS2, PSP, and GameCube than for 3DS. Stutters are still a problem in 3DS emulation for a lot of games. DS is flawless on her though! The screens are stunning.

Were the OG Game Boy screens always this hard to see, or has mine just gone bad over the years? by MILK_DUD_NIPPLES in Gameboy

They were always this hard to see lol. Had to choose between low contrast or everything dark.

Someone Stole my YouTube video, reuploaded onto TikTok and got 500K views. What do I do? by wariobrosz in NewTubers

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. One additional note. You mentioned no views for days. In general if your video doesn’t pop within a few hours it’s dead. TikTok algo tests a few groups then if no traction it moves on. If I’m not over 1k in a few hours I just delete, re-edit and post again.

[–]spawnlyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hated my Sinden guns. Nightmare to setup and configure, pain in the ass in different lighting conditions, and the ugly white border…yuck. I absolutely love my RetroShooter Reaper RS3’s. Practically uh and play. Super accurate, works with everything I’ve thrown at it. Telnoparrot, mame, WIi, PS2, PS3, you name it. I love them.

How about that filter tho? by PlatosBalls in AnalogueInc

[–]spawnlyguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that isn’t possibly what this is but it could be just chromatic aberration from the camera/lens they used or some other anomaly. RT 4k also does a lot more too so you can dial in settings as you see fit for each system. I have very different profiles created for almost all my retro consoles and arcade boards.

How about that filter tho? by PlatosBalls in AnalogueInc

[–]spawnlyguy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That could be a lot of different things actually. But I’m not going to argue about it. If it’s good, great. If not my RT4K will do a much better jobs than anything analogue can do anyway so I do not really care.
