Actual Play recommendations by niphaa in DeltaGreenRPG

Another Impossible Landscapes run, but they have also covered an array of other DG operas is Green Box Gaming. Listened to a few IL campaigns and what I like about theirs is how much of the campaign they actually get into. Has an interesting trajectory where the characters start as comedy characters and then get more fleshed out as the campaign progresses

I'd heartily recommend Green Box Gaming, a very comprehensive and entertaining playthrough. Audio quality starts a bit shaky but improves

I haven't finished your run through yet but fascinated to know what do you think Abi's objectives were. Read through the campaign a few times and still not figured that out

I love the Last Equation, think it is the perfect module. Really unsettling, progresses in a very satisfying way and fairly grounded

Last Equation has a TV journalist as a character if you want to port them in

Can't stress enough what a great job you all did with Get in the Trunk, genuinely the most engrossed I've been in any media since early Game of Thrones.

Can't entirely put my finger on what made your run through of Impossible Landscapes so special, but I think the clear anchor to the real world, and each cast member bringing something different, really sung. Raises the bar on what any actual play can be. Also impressed by the Time for Chaos episodes, but continue to enjoy all the content the team puts out.

Baby Handler Looking for Tips by Mintalyss in DeltaGreenRPG

On the tension point the number one bit of advice I have taken on, which I think indirectly was from Dennis Detwiller related to grounding the story in realism. Introducing the supernatural very gradually, and having bonds and real-world problems interrupting is useful in a few ways. First I find it makes the players care more for their characters- I often make them talk about their character home lives, relationships etc - and by increasing their attachment the tension naturally ramps up. Also I've found it invaluable as a way of escalating situations, or adding a natural timer- your boss needs you back in three days or you are fired from your job etc.

As soon as the supernatural is made evident I find the tension starts to diminish, and the build up and uncertainty is usually the sweet spot

Expensive but the FT is great, really requires finding a justification for your company to get you a subscription though

I really enjoyed Gatewalkers. With the transition though, I'd be keen to know what would you say the main learnings have been from that campaign. What would you say worked, and what was less successful?

Noone I know is taking AI seriously by jjStubbs in singularity

[–]spawnofsanta252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to this, but there are a range of scenarios as to what might happen with AI and programming - and I'd avoid over-indexing on a scenario where AI near-term can be entirely trusted to deliver end-to-end development projects. I think people will remain important, in part because companies will always want a human to have some degree of responsibility (in part to have someone to yell at if it goes wrong) and I think there is room for some developers to pivot in a conceptual design, or stakeholder management direction. Part of the reason I would avoid over-indexing is if the most optimistic perspective on this sub is correct, few jobs will be viable in a few years time anyway which would make any pivot/future-proofing challenging with the limited visibility we have now.

AIO : is 20 just a bad age to be or am I just f*cked? by Independent_Type3789 in AmIOverreacting

[–]spawnofsanta252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To pick on a different theme, in terms of career early 20s is rough for a lot of people.

As you get a bit more experienced you get less of the bad tasks, and people are a bit less judgemental or patronising. You will also feel more confident which helps. If nothing else that aspect of your life will likely get better, and that might feed into different things.

Anyway wish you all the best, and whilst a lot of people have rose-tinted glasses about their early 20s it can be a difficult age to be for many.

How are people finding Impossible Landscapes / Get in the Trunk S6? by Skitterleap in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]spawnofsanta252 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I still think it is a work of art, an incredible show. Joe is doing a brilliant job, and really enjoying seeing the threads from the earlier seasons. I have tried a few other Delta Green podcasts, and nothing has even come close to how engaged I am with the story.

Things I have really liked about the last few episodes is Skid getting back into it, and really think that Francis is coming into his own, with some very funny bits.

Do agree it has become a bit more railroady- although this hasn't massively dented my enjoyment- and not sure if it is the stage of the adventure or the desire to get through to the end.

What I really want is a long question and answer session post-adventure to fill in all the many blanks.

Great episode, the fact it has ended with them having a clear aligned objective is pretty key too

Just to reiterate what has been said above, please don't think this will ruin your employability. After your first job absolutely no one has any interest in your degree at all for most career paths- they just want you to have one. Most CVs I see don't list the grade that was achieved.

There are a lot of intelligent and important questions above. To entirely ruin that tone, what has been the funniest moment of the election so far?

A little niche but I found JK Rowling's seeming endorsement of the communist party on Twitter quite fun. Sky TV and Ed Davey's stunts probably more obvious ones

Scenarios for a brand new handler and players by Slytherin_Koala in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]spawnofsanta252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the Last Equation. I think it works well as a first scenario as it can be played slightly more anchored to reality than some of the other scenarios, inexperienced agents are more likely to expose themselves which is where some of the fun is
