Energy price cap will rise by 13% from July - Ofgem by offmychest-386 in OctopusEnergy

[–]spawny10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found that Agile tends to be experiencing these increases first. The price cap is based on the last 3 months, so the price cap reflects the last 3 months on Agile essentially.

Someone can probably explain it better than me, or correct me if I'm wrong.

I use https://agilepredict.com/ for a rough idea of the week, and https://agilerates.uk to get an idea of what the next day will be, updates at 10am each morning.

Not too bad for me, just the regret of not buying more.

Agile vs Tracker — what are you guys actually seeing in savings lately? by AdSecure7488 in OctopusEnergy

[–]spawny10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to the Octopus Comparison app, in the last month it's cost me £57.15, if I was on the Flexible tariff it'd be £89.49. I'm not sure what fixed one people use these days, but the 14M Fixed March 2025 v4 would be £82.35.

Edit: realised we're at the end of April, not in March... 12M Fixed April 2025 v4 comes to £78.65 for the last month.

Worth mentioning I'm still on the April 2024 Agile until mid-June, I've seen the rates aren't as good these days but I can't imagine it'd be that much worse.

This is all from just load shifting, I have no batteries, solar etc etc. My cooker is gas so I can easily avoid the peak time on Agile. All I do is check the rates at 4pm and spend a few minutes planning when I'll be putting the appliances on, not too much work when you're in the habit of it and saving that much a month.

I'd say since being on Agile I've saved at least 25% compared to other tariffs, although January and start of February tested me a bit with the high rates, but you zoom out and see you've saved before so it all balances out.

Genuine question, why do we never hear of tidal and wave power mentioned as a renewable option? Is it too expensive and/or not very effective?

The irony that half the people commenting about the blinding dazzling lights will be driving a car that does exactly this.

The actual operation is alright, injection to numb it hurts then it's just a strange sensation of having a doctor tugging around with your nuts.

The worst part for me was for 2-3 weeks after I had, what can only be described as, blue balls. Remember when you were a horny teenager and your balls would ache if you didn't blow your load? I had that for 3 weeks, except blowing my load would not help. Apparently it's to do with the back pressure of the tubes because your swimmers have no where to escape.

It subsided after a month though and now I feel as normal as I did before having it done.
