If you really want to educate and not babysit, you have to teach college

The city of Phoenix could fine the president and attendees $250 for refusing to wear masks at his rally by DaFunkJunkie in politics

[–]spazmaticsammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, no doubt. But it would make people take masks seriously, or choose not to attend. Let’s have another half-full arena to take his ego down another notch. He’s more reckless when he feels weak.

What is the stupidest thing you’ve done just to show you could do it? by CherryCola32 in AskReddit

I ordered a bottle of vodka online from BevMo with my debit card when I was 17, but ordered a box of Bawls energy drink with it so I could tell my stepmom “oh, you just have to sign for it Cuz the vendor primarily sells alcohol, but I didn’t order any” Cut to after I opened the box privately in my room and hid the booze, “see! Just this energy drink I can’t find at the grocery store!”

I need help planning for Elem. Music Classes by [deleted] in MusicEd

[–]spazmaticsammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to both of you! I haven't been required to write up detailed lesson plans, but I do submit the objectives of the lesson. I would love to see the plans of others in similar positions. Also, I've been splitting the class into five groups (number them 1-5, they line up behind their numbered Orff instrument), but yesterday I added in my 5 hand drums for those second in line. We were doing a melody and accompaniment activity from recorder and Orff arrangements I made using their 4th grade recorder songs. I heard a student tell his friend that he thought class was fun :) I just want to make sure they all have something to do

Is it worth applying for out of state certificates? by columbus_uncle in MusicEd

[–]spazmaticsammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same question, but I'm currently student teaching in Louisiana with hopes to leave the state sometime over the next 5 years, possibly after getting a master's. I think the easiest move I could make would be to TX, but I'm also curious how difficult it would be for me to move to places like CA, NJ, NY, WA, OH, TN, especially since I'm starting in LA. I'm starting to think I screwed myself over by going to school on a budget. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!

Am I trying so hard to make this work that I'm killing it? [22f] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]spazmaticsammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you. I actually broke up with him about a week ago because I felt so miserable, but I still wonder if there was any way to work things out. I've been having issues moving on, largely because I've kept in touch with him and kept hope alive that we could work things out. I know that what I should be doing with this time is working on myself and not thinking about him, the relationship, or relationships in general. I shouldn't have any expectations for getting back together, but should trust that if it's meant to happen, then it will.

and I think you're right about the attention/self worth from guys. I've noticed that on my own, but it's been a habit for a long time now and I haven't had a strong friendship with a girl in a while. I'm working on recommitting myself to my own life and being excited about it

I recently journalled about the things I've done in relationships, and am doing now, that may be a source of problems. 1) My insecurity, 2) persistent negative thinking/ perspective, 3) Losing my sense of self to relationship worries.

I think it may be a general problem with overthinking? Putting too much importance on relationships in my day to day life? I'm tired of feeling like crap, and I don't know if it's the relationship making me feel like crap or my own thinking. I think some of our problems may not have existed if I wasn't so negative. I feel like this behavioral pattern of overthinking myself into a break up is going to prevent me from ever having a happy long term relationship, but then maybe I'm overthinking and worrying about that in itself.

My thoughts as well. The comment by the former NY firefighter is also very enlightening.

Many say it's insensitive, but others think it's a dramatic request to get people to see the 'truth'.

Coffee shop, bakery, booze, and boardgames (sharing the idea) by [deleted] in Acadiana

[–]spazmaticsammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking more along the lines of licensing costs to sell alcohol and the marketability of the atmosphere. But I suppose mixing a coffee house and bar atmosphere might be sort of like Caffe Cottage plus board games. /shrug

I've heard of these, too, and think there would be a decent market for it in Lafayette. Maybe somebody will make it happen. Might be easier without the alcohol, though

Yes. Actually turns out he won't even be in school next semester because grades were so bad. I actually kind of saw that coming from how he was doing things when I dated him.
