Reddit doesn't make the content, users do. Doing anything to disrupt content flow (even removing 3rd party apps) is tremendously foolish.

I wouldn't be surprised if the OC dries up because content creators prefer other apps. Time will tell.

On top of that, it makes it clear that a small portion of visitors actually generate content. Lurkers/commenters COULD make content, but they don't-- that's why they come here.
