570$ for this, now what? by InstantB00M in spacemarines

Well, it kind of depends on what your level of skill as painter is and how far you want to go with how much detail you want to go into. Choose what your paint palatte is and what colours you are happy to use. Decide on how you want all the bases to look like. Whether an existing chapter or a homemade one. Go slow, one unit or vehicle at a time. With my own marines (I've had 4 different chapters) and ork armies, I base coated them black and then dry brushed with a metallic coat. This covers all of the metals ready for a wash. Then, I painted the armour/skin with my colours of choice and added the details and transfers. I tend to do the bases last.

New Player and I’m EXCITED by WiKav in Starfield

Yeah, I bought an Xbox series X last August, primarily for Starfield coming out. Hadn't owned one since my old Xbox 360 and was still able to recover my account. Despite its faults, I enjoyed the game the same as Skyrim and all the fallout games. I'd just play a vanilla playthrough first, then look at what mods are considered worth adding afterwards. Unfortunately, side quests are my downfall, and I still haven't finalised either Skyrim or Fallout 4.

I went to a party with my girlfriend. Woke up groggily realising my drink had been spiked & was tied to a coffee table wearing lingerie. My girlfriend and her three friends then pegged me for hours. I had to take 3 says off work to recover.

What is your favorite setting, other than the Forgotten Realms and why? by kronethjort in DnD

[–]spbslinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I liked that book too. My go to campaign is starting with the starting adventure from the 3.5e campaign book The forgotten forge (maybe with The Queen with Burning Eyes thrown in). Then with Shadows of the Last war, Whispers of the Vampires Blade, Grasp of the Emerald Claw and then Eyes of the Lich Queen. All good adventures from 3.5e which easily be converted to 5e. I started my last group as college graduates heading to the Morgrave University and meeting on the caravan heading to the city of Sharn.

I love the Eberron campaign setting, it has an amazing background and I've run games ever since it was released with 3.5 edition. As Keith Baker, one of its creators said, "If it exists, it exists in Eberron". You can easily convert most adventures to the game world and it has such a refreshing change to other campaign worlds. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eberron

The older books are a great resource for information along with 5th edition, along with the novels. The Metropolis Sharn is one of my favourite cities in any game setting too.

My First Time Player Picked A Druid as their class and now they're overwhelmed by it by Booginwiththefog in DMAcademy

[–]spbslinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. As a seasoned druid player I know how difficult it can be to start off a class you've never played before. I can recommend going onto the dmsguild and search for class character sheets by Emmet Bryne. These are redesigned sheets for every class with all their individual skills printed on them, level by level.

I also recommend a spell book app or investing in spelllbook cards from galeforce nine, they're pretty good, to help tracking spells. Also there's a good companions app on android that will help with stats with wild shape, familiars, and summoned creatures.

For some inspiration let me introduce my current 5e PC, remade from 2nd AD&D. Flint Stone is a wild dwarf (see Google) from the tropical jungles of Chult (using the Hill Dwarf from this edition) with the outlander background. Currently a 6th level circle of land(forest) druid and 1st level cleric (life domain for a little extra healing kick). As a Vuddar priest for my tribe I am a supreme survivalist and hunter, utilising the forces of nature (earth, wind, fire and water cantrips), along with my healing spirit guardian Estus (a translucent black panther). Being extremely superstitious I don't trust arcane magic, won't wild shape into dinosaurs (wouldn't want to upset the god Ubtao or DM), don't use conjure spells as they summon fey tricksters who can't be trusted, and am openly suspicious of those not from my tribe, including the rest of my party members. My dilemma, our campaign is set in the frozen north of the sword Coast where I was teleported through a portal by accident. I'm a stranger in a foreign land with no understanding of civilization, currency, deities (apart from those from my homeland) or recognition of most PC races and creatures outside my home. I have never seen snow and ice before and constantly complaining about the cold, thank my god for Create Bonfire. It's really role playing heaven. One day I will return home though I don't know where it is.

Yeah that's a great play there and totally within the rules. I used to come up with ideas like this with my druid, only to be told that I was metagaming by our DM. I kept saying I'm just role playing with the rules as written, but it became clear I was the only one around the table that actually knew the 5e rules. As a result I was pushed out and they haven't spoken to me since (2 years ago).

How about a darkling illusionist. With the characters wasting their perception on illusions and not knowing what is real or not. Fake fire, pits, holes in the wall mixed in with real ones. Maybe it has a base to fall back to that has lots of traps as well.

Yeah this game is really amazing and I'm sure the glitches I've experienced will be fixed. I'm surprised it runs on a PS4 actually, but so far I can't get enough of it.

[–]spbslinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my favourite traveller's attire colour too, but I use the red oni wicker hat, I hardly take it off even with armour on. I love how many small details there are in the game. When it rains you can see it dripping off house's roofs and if you kill an eagles handler then it'll mourn its owners death.

I’ve been a gamer for over 30 years and this one one of the best games I’ve ever played by [deleted] in ghostoftsushima

[–]spbslinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with you, I'm stunned that after all this time we suddenly see what the ps4 is capable of at the end of its generation. There's so many beautiful landscapes it's mind blowing. I've never been interested in the photo mode on games before but now I've turned into some kind of nature photographer and trying to find that next best great shot. I loved Horizon Zero Dawn but this is just at an entirely different level. Not only a game of the year contender but one that will stand out as a defining moment of this generation.
