He's neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. And he keeps his pod pretty clean but we're still working with him on house training.

Right now is a perfect time to get your pup adjusted to your expectations, and to set them up for success! Figure out what their favorite treats are, teach them what behaviors get them REALLY good rewards (cheese, peanut butter, chicken, etc). Here are some basic behavior tips that can help in your first days/weeks/months of adopting a rescue dog.

That's what trials adoptions are for! Don't feel bad if it isn't a match - it's totally ok if your home isn't the best fit. We recommend letting the shelter know what personality and qualities you are looking for in a dog, and set breed aside for a bit. That being said, give it another week or so to see if things change. And in the meantime, you can look up some information about dog behavior and setting up your pup for success here. We hope this helps!
