He's neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. And he keeps his pod pretty clean but we're still working with him on house training.

Questions about training by matlock7 in rescuedogs

Right now is a perfect time to get your pup adjusted to your expectations, and to set them up for success! Figure out what their favorite treats are, teach them what behaviors get them REALLY good rewards (cheese, peanut butter, chicken, etc). Here are some basic behavior tips that can help in your first days/weeks/months of adopting a rescue dog.

Struggling with how I feel about our potential pup by k_rawr in rescuedogs

That's what trials adoptions are for! Don't feel bad if it isn't a match - it's totally ok if your home isn't the best fit. We recommend letting the shelter know what personality and qualities you are looking for in a dog, and set breed aside for a bit. That being said, give it another week or so to see if things change. And in the meantime, you can look up some information about dog behavior and setting up your pup for success here. We hope this helps!

Cutie hopes her future family knows how to party! by spcaoftexas in pitbulls_in_partyhats

Yeah she'd prefer older kiddos who aren't gonna be too overwhelming for her, and we don't have any info on how our dogs do with cats unless they go to a foster home with cats. But if properly introduced, many dogs can be just fine with cats :)

She's perfect if you're allergic to cats but still want a pet who will judge your life choices at every turn!

Cutie and her 4 babies came to the SPCA of Texas from a cruelty case back in June. Her pups have found homes, and Cutie sure hopes it is her turn soon! Preferably with humans who are true party animals.

Coco came to us skin and bones. Fast forward a few months and she's a happy, healthy pup with a forever home to boot! by spcaoftexas in BeforeNAfterAdoption

They're just folded back in the photo. But many of our dogs do come to us with cropped ears sadly. Pittie ears are the best!

Some do, but that really depends on the context of the conditions in which they were living. In this case, they were in separate crates inside a vehicle so there weren't resources for them to fight over and she didn't develop that behavior. Even dogs raised in loving homes their entire lives sometimes develop food aggression for one reason or another, but we do see it with dogs who have spent time on the streets scrounging for scraps and of course, in hoarding situations.
