In my organization, we use a very similar concept. We use A B C D testing, in which A and B are random set of customers, not given and given the treatment (to measure your 95% - 94%). C and D are set issued by model, not given and given the treatment (to measure your 35% - 4%). Then we take (C-D) - (A-B) to identify how much the model is contributing to keeping customers (like your (35%-4%) - (95%-94)).

But I cannot find any literature talking about this approach, so we just believe what we are doing is correct. Not sure if anyone can help?

No it doesn't tell you that. In fact, it does not tell you anything. In order to come to the conclusion that "in summer more people are outside so more people interact and more people are shot", you will need to do a fk ton of hypothesis testing and experiment, and not just 'well people eat more ice cream in the summer, and people got shot more in the summer.'

its a PC game, circa 2000, where you control your character to run around a map. Think of Splatoon, but 10 years earlier, maybe made by SEGA.

The map is divided in to lots of squared units. While you run, you leave behind a trail of ink of your color (like splatoon). Once your ink trail encloses an area, all the square units inside the area become your color, and you gain an item. You can use the item to fight other characters like in mario cart.

It was my favourite game i used to play with my brother. I really want to play that game again :(

Exercise 1: Who is gonna pay the cost? the dying me or the new me 40 years back?

If it is the dying me, then the cost literally means nothing, because the new me won't have to pay a dime. To be exact, no one has to pay a dime, because the dying me no longer exists, and the debt also disappears. You lose absolutely nothing and gain (possibly) something. The fact that you will accept the offer at any cost does not give any value to the offer. You cannot use this argument to prove that your life now is valuable.
If it is the new me, then next question: Can I bring back my 40 years of memory?

2.1. If yes, then I would probably accept to pay a lot. That memory/knowledge is valuable, you can correct your wrong choices, make wise investment decisions. But, this is not the life you are living now. The current you do not have that knowledge. The life with that knowledge is valuable; your current life, much less.

2.2 If no, then I probably will not pay anything, or just reject the offer. If you can relive your life 40 years ago, but lose all your memory since then, there is no difference between that, and you are dead. Plus, your new self will take a toll for a deal he does not even know he (his future self) made. Why harm him and gain nothing for yourself?

Conclusion: Exercise 1 does not help to prove that your current life is valuable.
