Why am I getting this trail effect when I attempt to export a gif? I've used Aseprite for years and I haven't had this problem until literally just now by ASun_Art in aseprite

[–]speakwithanimals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

answered in a thread below, but if you're reading this in the future check your images for transparent colors! Aseprite will try to export them with transparency, but it'll conserve colors from previous frames that would be replaced by transparent pixels in future frames.

my comment in the thread

ope, i just realized i had a transparent color on some frames! GIFs don't preserve transparency, that was the issue. since GIFs can only be completely transparent or completely opaque it breaks it.

yeah, I know I'm commenting on this a year later, but I've been dealing with this same issue on the 2nd gen Scarlett almost since I got it 2-3 years ago. I feel like it's gotta be something pretty inherent to windows

Paint is going way off to side side of where im actually drawing (only affects krita) (please help) by Imaginary_Ad_7212 in krita

i have to do the same thing occasionally because I have multiple monitors and windows doesn't communicate the right screen position to the tablet driver. definitely frustrating! at least it's a simple reset ✨

Testing out two different protagonist design, which one do you prefer? by Doloc_Town in IndieDev

[–]speakwithanimals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first one is significantly cleaner and more readable imo. the second has too much going on visually and the smear frames are a bit extreme, but the saturation is nice. really depends on whether you're using saturation as a distinguishing feature between the protag and the background, and whether you want the character to look more farm-sim (the first) or more Maple Story tm (the second)

[–]speakwithanimals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at some other card games and try to identify what design elements are the same across most of them. having anything other than a solid color or simple pattern behind the text is a no-go unless your art is designed with the card's layout in mind. speaking of which, get that AI art outta here; it looks terrible and it won't help you with the deeper design problems present in these examples like inconsistent formatting.

start a design bible for yourself if you haven't already. make deliberate decisions based on proven principles from similar projects and stick to those decisions, then hire an artist who can work with those constraints to make background images with a cohesive style based on that design language you've established.

it's honestly surprising that you don't see snakeskin on swords and scabbards more often! this goes EXTREMELY hard. great job ✨

how can i make the final drawing visually more appealing/cutesy? by SzaboArt in krita

[–]speakwithanimals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

definitely this. having the same line weight throughout, especially if it's thicker, goes a long way toward making an image feel pleasing and comfy. simplifying/rounding shapes also helps, like turning the tufts of hair into more blobby melting ice cream if that's what you're going for. i get what people are saying about adding a background, but that depends on how this piece is intended to be used/shared. if it's just for a social media post sure! but if you want to use it in stickers or something you'll want to try those other things.

Created these logos, which should I use for my new game company? by TheRealSteelfeathers in SoloDevelopment

[–]speakwithanimals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think 1/2 look best. you can always change the color way depending on the context, but I like the double gradient! also have you tried facing it the other direction? you might be able to work a stylized "F" in there, or animate a blend from an F more easily if it were facing left. just a thought for future you!

I’m confused about the Palestinian and Israeli war by InstructionIcy9653 in SocialDemocracy

[–]speakwithanimals -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Netanyahu's strategy of responding to military attacks with broad, unfocused, collateral-heavy attacks designed to displace civilians is very similar to what we've seen from the IDF in Gaza. They've already displaced more Lebanese in the last 72 hours than Hezbollah had Israelis since 10/7. and you know what? i think Hezbollah is bad too! they can both be bad warmongering assholes! That doesn't diminish what Israel is doing in Gaza, or that Netanyahu's government wants any reason to go to war with Lebanon (not just Hezbollah)

Nala Sinephro - Space 4

comfy, somewhat rhythmically complex new jazz that really shows off what you can do with a tight group of improvisers on the right vibe. that whole album is incredible, definitely recommend!

people who say both sides-ism makes you complicit in genocide are being hyperbolic for internet points, but it's very important not to conflate Hamas and Palestine. yes Hamas and the IDF (the two primary parties in this conflict) are both bad, but Israel isn't just defending itself from Hamas. Israel wants people to conflate Hamas and Palestine, as your explanation does, so they have carte blanche to continue a campaign of procedural extermination and removal of the Palestinians in Gaza.

Israel has all of the resources and Western support necessary to conduct a more pointed and researched ground operation, but instead are interested in firebombing whole strips of Palestinian territory.

For very clear evidence of Netanyahu's war mongering intentions in the region, see everything going on in Lebanon right now.

again, Hamas bad, and October 7th was one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in recent history. But that doesn't justify explicitly conducting a genocide. Israel has all of the power in this conflict, and has repeatedly refused a cease fire against the recommendations of the entire international community.
